He laid there in the dark unable to sleep, listening to the rain. The street lights kept the lightning hidden. Their existence only evident by the consistent rumble that broke through the cacophony below.
His mind wondered to his childhood. Even the mightiest Nor’easters couldn’t compare to the tornadic storms of an Illinois spring. Entire homes picked up and tossed aside like garbage.
There are other kinds of storms. It didn’t take much for an F5 with big, thick hands to come crashing down on him, tossing him aside like garbage. He sighed. Turning over he listened to the rain and drifted off to sleep.
