:: New week, new episode. I don't know if I should keep warning you guys but there's a major Clois-squeeing coming ahead, so here we go.
Alright, first shot and we're on the Kent farm... and Lois is looking for Clark... yes, warm fuzzy feelings are here, and it's second 4 of this episode. Have you noticed how on Smallville nobody ever lock their doors?
Ew, dirt. I guess humans clean, kryptonians don't. I wonder if there was dust in Krypton, and can you really have that much dust in only three weeks? where's this farm, a desert?
Shelby!! you're alive!! Since when is Lois so affectuous towards Shelby? where are her allergies?
Sweetest cap ever! that's it, I'm switching from Clois to Lois/Shelby... haha NOT!
Lois: Smallville isn't the same without Smallville, isn't it?
Busted Clarkie!! you've been feeding Shelby... that's very unhuman of you *rollseyes*
Why is John Corben calling Lois "beautiful"? I mean, she is beautiful, but he's not the one who should be calling her that.... the guy is hot though, and he has amazing chemestry with Erica. I know I said this before but I wish he could stay longer
John: since you don't wanna grab dinner tonight I spent (i'm not sure of he said that) the time searching for news and you'll never guess what I found
Lois: if I do, would you take me off your speed-dial?
they've known each other for a week and he already has her on speed-dial? stalker much? Anyway, that was such a Lois thing to say. Have I told you guys how much I love Lois? I know I have and I don't care if I'm repetitive, I love Lois, I want to be like her when I grow up, always with a smart comeback.
So we'll move along, I could write an entire eulogy of the awesome that is Lois Lane but that would take us nowhere with our review/rambling/picspam/ohmygodpleaseshutupaboutthisdamnshow (that last one was a direct quote from my brother). So, John flirts with Lois, she tells him not to call her again, and he says the Blur is a freak and she defends him, because come on dude! she's Lois freaking Lane, you may know her for a week but you should already know that when Lois Lane sets her mind on something that's as good as sets in stone.
I think this cap beated the Shelby cap as my favorite cap of the entire episode (look at me, saying "cap" three times in one sentence, talking about writting skills)
Lois: thanks to him the city can sleep at night.
Are you really sleeping Lois? who are you kidding, you spend your nights having naughty dreams about Clark, we can't blame you girl, he is dreamy.
So the creep has a sad story huh? who's that girl? (I know she's his sister but I'm going to pretend like I don't know so please people, pretend with me ;)). What's up with Smallville writters and that need to give the evil guys sad stories as background, do they think we will relate to them easily? or is it so Clark can relate to them and have some kind of revelation with each baddie he fights? For the way Corben was in the 3 scenes he had before they turned him into Robocop, the background made sens, I approve. I've never understood Metallo's motivation in the comics, but bad guys without motivation are far more scary than those who turn evil because of their life circumstances, at least imo.
Corben's accident looked awful!! there's so much blood. This is the creepiest cap since half-Clark hanging from Doomsday's wall on Chloe's dream. EW. I hate blood, even fake blood.
Metallo looks AWESOME!! who created him though? I had this entire theory about a government conspiracy, though I know I'm mistaken T.T. I so wanted the government to know about the kryptonians, then I thought maybe they made Metallo because they knew of their kryptonite weakness (enters Lex Luthor with the information), and maybe Lois' dad could be behind the operation. I really want to see Gral Lane again. But I guess this is not it.
Credits, let's all sing along (I know you guys do it, i do it everytime I watch a new episode) Somebody saaaave me....
This is the awesome cap from the opening this week:
because there's no such thing as enough naked!Ollie
Clark listening to the people who have lifes living them makes him so Emo. What if somebody goes to the Planet rooftop and sees him?
Why is Tom so hot? aaaw, he listened to a guy proposing to his girlfriend (I didn't catch that the first time I watched the episode). I don't have much to say except that I posted this caps just to look at Clark's pretty face.
Lois' asleep people, this only means one thing: Dream sequence!!, this deserves a frame by frame analisis
- First, creepy Lois close up
- Chloe running again, now the question is: from whom
- Tess kneeling. Is it wrong that I kind of like Tess/Zod? there's so much tension there
- Tess wearing a dogtag with the Kandorian symbol.
- OH MY GOD, THIS LOOKS LIKE "THE DEATH OF SUPERMAN" (kuddos to
sadoptimistic for noticing it)
- GAHHHH HAND.BACK.OH.MY.GOD
- I'm starting to believe Clark is a genious in bed... look at Lois' face!
- OH.MY.GOD HER SMILE :). I need a better version of this cap to make me an icon.. NOW!
- WOW... WHAT A KISS
- AND AGAIN THIS FRAME BECAUSE I LOVE IT
-AAAND A CLOSE UP TO THEIR LIPS *sigh*
I can totally keep on watching this flashes in every episode. My screen is going to get burned when this episode airs, I can see it coming.
Saved by the dog. Aaaaw, I can't believe Lois took Shelby to the apartment. I insist, what happened to her allergies? And did Shelby got a sex operation when Lois magically got cured of her allergies?
Lois: this dreams are like a midnight movie madness in my head
Does Chloe still lives at the Talon? I thought she lived at the Watchtower. I hate that we didn't see Lois' reaction to the news that Jimmy was dead (I'm asuming Chloe actually told her, nobody tells Lois stuff in this show)
This episode just won a cookie for mentioning Martha :). Clark's supposed to be visiting cousins in Poughkeepsie... that reminds me of an episode of Friends.
Look at how cute it looks Tom's name under the "Co-Executive Producer" title
Chloe: sounds like someone misses him
Lois: please, I don't miss Clark. I just can't stand the new guy that's on his desk. He's a text book hero-hater
That's denial 1.01... and Chloe belives what she's saying as much as I do.
Lois: who hates the Blur? anyone who reads can see how great he is
It must be so akward for everybody to hear Lois rambling about how amazing the Blur is while they know it's Clark.
With this bad case of hero worshiping Lois has, she seems much younger than Chloe.
At first I was convinced that Chloe was jealous of Lois because she's talking to Clark, now I think Chloe's concerned and hurt. I mean it has to hurt to hear Lois saying that she's the only person in his life he can turn to when she's done a lot of things for him, specially when she feels she made the biggest mistake of her life, which resulted in getting her husband killed. I want to hug Chloe. I honestly don't understand the Chloe hate, she's human and makes mistakes... and then pays for her mistakes (not like certain characters who have the same initials as Lois and are not as awesome)
I love all the Lo-Chlo love we're getting this season.
Doesn't he look cute petting Shelby while he's wearing his matrix coat / Batman costume?
I wonder if Clark ever takes off those clothes, maybe he has a closet full of dark jeans, long coats and chalk painted t-shirts. Chloe is totally right though, Lois would know right away he's the blur, it's not like she's gallactically supid, right?. That's why he should have been wearing those glasses since day ONE.
Clark: I told you, there is no Clark Kent
Chloe: no disrespect to your kryptonian calling but coming back to feed the dog is as human as it gets
Hahaha I thought the same thing
I really like when Chloe snaps at Clark. I've been saying this since last season, most of the time Clark needs to be hit in the head with a kryptonite bat. Except that now I don't agree with Chloe (or Clark) that he needs to leave behind his attachments and relationships. It's clear that he can't leave everyone behind, he needs somebody, and I'm not talking about Lois exclusively. For him is easy to talk to her as the Blur because it still seems like he's cutting everybody off since she doesn't know it's him. The fact that it's Lois is a plus, I think when Lois returned he realised he had been avoiding the issue (like Jor-El told him) not getting over it and the truth is, he can't "get over" his human side, it's part of who he is, of how he was raised, he may have been born in Krypton but he grew up here, he is one of us, no matter where he was born. Lois made him realise that and since everybody else had "respeted" and even supported his silly idea of cutting everybody off he had to reach to the only person he felt closer to without being close. Besides, she wants to be needed by him, she wants him to rely on her... and he has feelings for her, he loves making her smile, so he just goes along, fooling everybody and himself. Snap out of it Clarkie boy, you need to be a part of this people.
I love how this struggle has been portrayed here though, and how's been resolving and developing.
Aaaw, I did't expect to see Dr. Geek today, I love this guy. I hope he doesn't turn evil like... in every other Superverse :P
Ew at the kryptonite heart.
Poor Dr. Geek getting his ass kicked by Corben. That's why smart guys stay in laboratories and tell the strong guys how to save the world.
Tess is so kick ass
Tess: the last time you and I saw each other things got a little... physical, didn't they?
Femslash much? and Tess offering Lois a rematch I could almost hear the men population of the world screaming "hell yes!"
Only Lois Lane can threat the Luthor Corp C.E.O. with an article on the Inquisitor about aliens, you can't deny this girl is resourceful. I can't believe it worked though, I'm sure Tess has something else planned.
I still don't know what Tess wants with the kryptonians, does she think she will be able to boss them around? or does she really believe they will save the world from God knows what. I still can't understand her motivation... does she even have one?
LOL at Dr.Geek reaction to Clark's entrance.
When I heard they were doing Metallo this season my mind went to Lex too, makes sense that it was Clark's first thought. Lex and his people have done stuff far more awful and weird than taking a man's heart out and replacing it with a meteor rock, plus it's not like mechanic hearts aren't stuff you do now days, I don't know why they are so surprised by the technology and rule Lex out so fast.
Also, I want a keyring like that, it's übercute!
What favor did Clark ask of Dr. Hamilton? I don't think it was to borrow his phone to call Lois. Maybe he wanted him to call the Planet to have someone asigned to the story, but what for?
I love BAG performance, I have nothing else to say about him except that I keep wishing he had landed a bigger role.
Obsessed much? this is like "the wall of weird, the Blur edition". And the bad guy decides to kill the Blur.
Lois: Daily Planet, Lois Lane, your first choice in reporting
LOL!
Our first "Clois" scene in the episode, let's try to break it down so we can squee together. (Notice how I said first, as in more than one)
Clark/RBB: Lois, I need some information
Lois: it's you
Clark/RBB: something just happened in Metropolis General, in the E.R
Lois: I know all about it, I'm covering the story (that is such a LIE, her editor just gave her the asigment. I see right through you Lane). Got any leads?
Clark/RBB: not yet, I don't know the man's identity but I do have his keys. I think he works at the Daily Planet
Lois: He works here?
Lois: hey, do you want me to find out who's missing their keys?
Clark/RBB: no... I just wanted to know if you may've noticed anyone...
Lois: I'm so on it
Clark/RBB: no, Lois... listen to me this man is dangerous. He's some sort of superhuman cyborg and I don't want you to get hurt
Lois: you really do care about me, don't you?
Come on Clark!! this is Lois, you can't throw her a bone like that and expect her not to grab it. This scene is exactly like last week's when Chloe left Lois alone and she run away from the hospital. Do this people know Lois at all?
Another cookie for concerned Clark.
Clark/RBB: Lois...
Lois: okay, okay... I just... keep my eyes open, I swear. But if I do see anything, it's not like I can call you from the bullpen
Clark:/RBB: then I'll call you, at our phoneboot (I think I died a little)
Lois: you think of it as our phoneboot too? (I think Lois died a little too)
Clark:/RBB: just be there at 7
Tom and Erica have completly mastered the post-conversation look of satisfaction ♥
*sigh*
With my heart full of Clois love I'll carry on.
So, Lois goes around asking everyone and their mothers about their keys, which I don't think is a very good method because some people (like myself) tend to loose their keys all the time. I'm sure in a building full of people more than 5 people forget or lose their keys.
Anyway, for some weird reason Chloe is at Lois' desk and we learn that Lois was either downloading stuff ilegally from the internet or someone's spying on her. Probably the later. I'm going to dare guessing here and I'll blame it on Tess. She's the bad guy, ergo everything is Tess' fault.
What?! Lois want to talk to Chloe about "you know who"? Harry Potter-much?
Lois: I'm working for You know who.
OMG Lois is a Deatheater!! (admit it, you thought it too. It's fun to be a geek)
Lois: sometimes heroes can't do it all on their own, that's why they need sidekicks
Auch.
And here comes the shocker... the kandorians made Metallo!! I did not see that coming, honestly. So much for my government/General Lane theory. I like it this way though, it's completly original (at least I think so). I still don't know why the kandorians don't have their powers, the ninja-chick from the future had them which means at some point they'll get them, but I have no theories on why they are still wondering around powerless.
I swear my heart skipped a beat when the phoneboot turned green.
So... Corben is dripping kryptonite everywhere, huh? or is it just the things he touches? if he's dripping then finding Lois wouldn't be so hard, Clark just has to follow the green "oh my God I think my insides are on fire" path and voilà.
The Jimmy picture made me smile, I think it's a nice touch.
Clark needs help and he turns to Chloe. I say not much has changed, has it?
Clark: Chloe, Lois had been kidpanned, I need your help.
Chloe: tell me this isn't because you let her chase down that sinister cyborg all by herself
Clark: I told her not to get envolved
Chloe: Clark, what did you thing she was gonna do, this is Lois!
*sigh* he can't say he did not see Lois chasing the "story" coming, specially if she thought she was helping the Blur. This is Mad Dog Lane!! (I really want to hear that nickname in Smallville, I wonder who would come up with it and how would Lois react)
So Dr. Hamilton gave Clark a granade of something-i-didn't-get (that looks really phallic), which I'm guessing, from Clark's explanation, that works like that arrow Ollie had a few season ago. My guess is that's what Clark asked of him. My Clarkie boy is all grown up, he has a plan now.
Clark: things have been easy with her lately, talking to her just felt right.
If I'm not mistaken this is the first time Clark admits to anyone something about how he feels about Lois. So it's not a declaration of love or anything, but it made me smile.
Clark asks Chloe for help because he hasn't been able to find Corben. See Clarkie, that's why you usually listen to Lois' heartbeat in the comics, it's not just because you love her, it's because she gets in trouble once a week and that way you can reach her easily.
So, Clark and Chloe discover a video and photos (where did Chloe got them? I hope she never looks me up I wouldn't want her to see my baby pictures or that video from the time I dressed up like a Spice Girl) that show Corben was once a good guy who lost her sister while he was overseas. And he bought the whole bulding where she lived... how much does a Daily Planet journalist make? damn!
John asks Lois about the Blur and we get this pretty cap of her standing next to an S symbol
Lois freaking out about Corben's chest is kind of cute. If you look closely at the third cap in this group you'll see there's a picture of Lois in the Wall of WeirdBlur, maybe it's her letter to the Blur.
The Corben shoves her around, because it's not a friday if Lois Lane doesn't get hit in the head (and then people surprise she hasn't noticed Clark Kent and The Blur are the same person, with as many head bumps as this woman has had I'm glad she's not an idiot already)
Clark arrives with a "GET AWAY FROM HER!" and Vero squees. I love it when he uses his Superman voice.
John: WHAT GIVES YOU THE RIGHT TO INTERFERE WITH OUR LIFES, AND TO CHANGE OUR FATE?!
Clark: I'm sorry about your lost John, what happened to your sister was tragic. You need to control yourself, the meteor rock is causing and adrenaline rush, you're not thinking straight
John: Control myself. That's easy for you to say. It doesn't take much to stay in control when you watch from the shadows. You stand apart from the world, while the rest of us live in it, even when it breaks your heart
This week "best line award" goes to John Corben, hell yes.
Clark throws his granade thingy and affects Metallo, we all breath easily for a second and sigh our hearts out when he goes to Lois. You didn't sigh? well, look at them again, look at the way he's touching her:
*sigh*
Things get green again and we know the fight is coming. Of course John throws Clark around for a bit until my favorite superhero makes his superbrain cells work again and think about covering the rock with lead. How can I not be proud of my Clarkie, he doesn't just throw punches and laser beams now.
Okay, so the fact that the lead thing said "Metropolis Lead" in big letters may have tipped him, but still. Good thinking Clark.
Another cookie to the episode for John's line refering to Lois as someone Clark loves.
It looks like Metallo went to the "Evil School of Evil" with the ninja girl from last week, he ended up killing himself and taking his heart out... literally. This makes me think of something Superman tells to Batman on the new Supes/Batman movie "how come the good villans never die", it has to be because the 'good villans' don't go around killing themselves.
Prepare to squee with me once again:
Clark: you're safe now Lois. I'm here
I think my heart melted. Look at the way he's looking at her!! I kept screaming at my screen "wake up Lois, damn it! wake up!" I seem to do that a lot, I'm pretty sure my family thinks I'm crazy.
Lois: it's you, you saved me. After all our phone calls I finally have you standing right in front of me and I don't know what to say to you. Please, let me see your face
For a moment I swear I thought he was going to do it, then I remembered this was episode 2 of this season and it was too soon, but still, you never know Smallville can be full of surprises.
Clark: I took the easy way out Chloe. I should have been there when you needed me. I'm sorry.
I think the struggle Clark and Chloe's friendship is going through is a part of growing up. They've been great together for years but now each of them have to take their own path, Chloe has done a lot of things for him, given up a lot without asking for anything in return and that has stopped her from becoming her own person, she can be so much more than Clark Kent's best friend, and he has to learn how to do things himself. In no way I think their friendship is ruined, it's just changing into a more mature one and I'm really interested in seeing how this will developed.
Clark: What's the point of protecting life if you've lost the sense of how to live it
Thank you! that's what I've been saying since last season... it only took a psycho with a kryptonite heart for you to understand it.
Clark: maybe I can't do this Chloe, maybe I can't completly stay away
Chloe: stay away from her you mean. Lois means something to you, something more
Did you notice how he didn't deny it or randomly changed the subject like he used to do last season when Chloe pointed his feelings for Lois to him? It's for things like this that I love Chloe, she's completly pro-Clois and is there to put words to the feelings Clark is having for Lois. I would hate not to see scenes like this again. I would love a scene where he tells Chloe he's in love with Lois and how it feels so different to what he felt for Lana, so Chloe can explain him how her feelings for Jimmy were always different to the feelings she once had for him because they were the real deal, much like his feelings for Lois are. I totally watch this show for the plot.
I really hope Clark doesn't give up his training because Clark's coming back for an encore.
Clark's coming back to the Planet to protect Lois.
Clark: I'm gonna be needing that
Lois: Clark Kent you're back! I was begining to think your family lived on some distant planet
Remember when I said the cap of Lois drawing the S was my favorite cap? well, I lied, this is my absolute favorite:
My heart is a puddle on the floor right now, completly melted.
Clark: you must have really missed me
Lois: only because the guy who sat on your desk was a certifiable psychopath. Otherwise I've been so busy I didn't even notice you were gone.
Clark: I missed you too Lois.
Yeah, right... that's why she was dog-napping Shelby and staring at his name plate daily. Denial doesn't work anymore Lane, that's so season 8
Clark: anything exciting happened while I was gone?
Lois: you'll never believe it, but I helped the Blur stop an homicidal maniac.
Clark: really? you know I would love to hear about it.
Look at his face... just... umfs.
Lois: okay... well. It all started when this guy showed up with this major grudge against the Blur...
I didn't write the whole thing Lois said because I didn't understand what she said about the bionic arms wanted to share the pretty caps
And that's it people... we'll see each other next week for more CloisSmallville.
What?
Wait...
Oh, there's another scene after the Lois and Clark one
I got distracted by the pretty Clois.
So, the last scene has Tess, who managed to get a hold on Corben's body and is holding his kryptonite heart. She wants to revive Metallo, of course she does, he can be a weapon if the kandorians get out of control. If literature has taught us anything (and by literature I mean Superman comic books) is that Metallo always gets revive. Anyway, how this woman manages to get everything like she ruled the world, amazes me.
So the little kid, who's kind of cute in a nerdy-i-wear-Batman-tshirts-and-Green-Lantern-boxers way, tells her a bunch of kryptonian symbols have appear all over the world, which is nothing new since we had learnt from the kandorians that there were several of them missing. Oh, and the kid knows the kryptonian symbols and his meanings (which makes him even hotter).
I had two reactions when I saw this image. The first, and very influenced by the Clois-high state I was in, was "OMG that's just like Lois found Clark on the 4th season"... and then I thought "WHO THE HELL IS THAT GUY?!". We have two options: Jor-El and Zor-El. What would Jor-El be doing on Kandor or why would he be there when we all know he didn't live in that city, Zor-El did. So my money is on that guy being Zor-El and the ninja-chick from the last episode being Alura. I also think that, if this is Zor-El, he could be the one who was giving intructions to Tess through the orb. In season 7 we saw that the El brothers didn't like each other very much and had different visions of the world. I'm asuming the theory that the kandorians are clones, much like Lara and Zor-El were in season 7, and obviously they were created before the planet exploded, so why would someone know about "The Traveler", unless it was someone from the El family.
What do you guys think?
Personally, I loved this episode... everything about it was beyond perfect, Smallville outdid itself this week and that makes me so happy I feel like singing, but don't worry... I won't ;)
Now I'm off, I'll see you again next week with "Rabid"
