[He whirls around nearly dropping the tablet in the process.]
Ka-Beckett? A-are you..? [He's just a little frozen in place here, last time he saw you? Lanie was sitting on the gurney doing chest compressions. Last time he saw you? You we pale, and lifeless and he was sure he wasn't ever going to see you again.] Are you...real?
[That gives her pause. She puts her hand on her chest, clutching her shirt at she stares at him.]
I was dying. I think... [Something hasn't been right since her arrival. Part of her thinks she's knows why, but she's refusing to accept it. Still, it makes her worry about him. Why is he here?] Were you shot? Did that bastard shoot you, too?
[He was sure you were dead. Everything about Lanie when they took you away said..you were gone and she was desperately trying to get you back.]
I don't...I don't think so. I was waiting...to hear something I was in the waiting room...I don't think I was shot. [I was hurt though, I was sure I'd lost you. I felt like...the bullet went through my heart into yours. But of course, that's too much to say. He's probably said too much there in the cemetery.]
[The pain in his eyes is excruciating. She didn't think anything could be more painful than that gunshot to the heart, except she lost consciousness and started to die and she couldn't feel that after a few minutes, not like she could feel Castle's pain when she was looking in his eyes.
She walks up to him, her finger catching the neckline of her shirt. She pulls it down to the dip between her breasts, to the marred tissue that stands out against her smooth skin. The wound is healed; it's nothing but a closed scar now, as if something had plugged back in the rest of the life he had only just, moments before maybe, seen flowing from her body.]
Something's wrong with all of this, Castle. This shouldn't be happening.
[He scrubs a hand over his face. For a moment he doesn't want to look. He doesn't want to see, but he does and he lets out a burst of a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding.
Castle reaches up...to touch, but pulls his hand back before doing so.]
How...That's- that's healed? How is it..I don't understand.
[She softens her gaze. It's not his fault she's ready to punch someone in the face, and it's not him he wants to punch. Well, not more than usual, anyway.]
I'm glad you're okay, Rick. [That's as close to an apology as he's gonna get.]
[He smiles just barely. The plus side to knowing you as well as he does is the fact that he knows that's as close to an apology as he's going to get. And knowing not to push.]
I'm fine. I..I really thought that was going to be it for you.
[She smiles like she's joking around. Like it's a big, stupid joke, like he's pulled one of his pranks. But really, smiling makes her feel like she can hide the tears welling up in her eyes.]
Oh my God, Castle.

I could ask the same of you. I thought this was my hallucination.

[Yup, that's what's important.]

[Wait, er...]
I mean, I'm used to seeing you every day. If I was hallucinating, it makes sense you'd be there.

[She lets go of her shirt and it snaps back into place.] You said you were in the waiting room. Did I make it into surgery?

They took you back. There, that's the last I heard.

Well..
That sounded like you were trying to tell him that you DIDN'T make it.
And that's not possible, because you're right here..]
What are you saying?
