[And yet that calmness is just it -- it's not a voice she recognizes, and new people tend to be either angry, scared, or at least tense for a while. Hence the suspicion.
...Or maybe she just analyzes things too much. Either way, yes, it's a nice voice.]
I see.
[Pause. And then, politely curious,]
Are you a new arrival, or have I just missed you up until now?
Re: [Voice]godsfirstbornJanuary 12 2012, 16:06:36 UTC
I have only been here a matter of days. Some of which I spent recovering from an altercation with Cerberus [But he has regeneration powers and his vessel was already back to rights.]
[Probably best to over analyze this one, after all, who remains that calm after a near death experience? Or claims to know about people who may well have come and gone before he even arrived.]
[Oh, she's been around the block a few times here.
Still, there's a certain degree of respect in her voice.] If you fought him that soon and sound that confident about recovering, you must be one of the better fighters this place has seen.
I fought him within hours of my arrival and I am completely healed now. I can show you, if you really want to see. [It was true, he had been weakened when Po found him but now the archangel was on his feet and better than ever. At her words though Michael feels a certain sense of pride, one his ego has needed sorely.]
I am a soldier, made for fighting. It is one of my many talents.
That's... impressive. [And it shows.] I've seen a surprising number of improved healing factors here -- so don't worry, I believe you. [There's a polite smile in her voice as she says it, though -- even if she's picking up on that ego a bit.]
We've been lucky enough to have a good number of people who know how to handle themselves, but more soldiers are always a good thing to have. Of course, ideally, no one would have to be here.
[It is there, unfortunately it will probably never entirely recede, Michael believes himself to be powerful and he can back up his words, power will distort anyone, even if it's just a little.]
I can't say I disagree on either of those facts, you sound as if this is not the first war you have fought in.
It's... not the kind of war most people think of, but I work in counterterrorism back home. Bioterrorism, specifically, so I'm more or less used to the unexpected -- and the worst. The good news is that this place isn't it.
[Random events or not, captivity or not, it could be worse -- much more so.
And then, as an afterthought,] I'm Jill. Jill Valentine.
War is war, rather you are fighting against other beings or against that which other beings have created. A soldier must adapt and fight what they are faced with.
[This was true, but for Michael this was the worst it could get as being trapped here he was kept from fulfilling his destiny and lost without a true purpose.]
It is nice to meet you Jill, I am Michael. [No surname to be had, after all God was not exactly your average father who could bestow such upon his children.]
[There's a grim smile in her voice now.] Well put.
Pleasure's mine.
[...Huh. Michael, of all names -- and no given surname, and he knows or knew Balthazar -- unnatural powers to boot, and given that input of his just now...]
Re: [Voice]godsfirstbornJanuary 16 2012, 00:45:21 UTC
[She was most definitely smart and Michael has a slightly impressed expression his face, not that she can see it and his tone remains as serene as it had been when he began this conversation.]
Re: [Voice]godsfirstbornJanuary 17 2012, 16:54:39 UTC
[That may be a good thing, Michael has been the General for so long and made moves that the others disapproved of, thus, he was not exactly a Favorite among the rebelling angels.]
Yes, I do. I have commanded Heaven's forces since our Father left. I know all of the angels within my command.
Balthazar is not here.
[Apparently new or not he believes he knows.]

You know him?

[But it's just a nice calm voice, certain of what it is saying.]
If he were here, I would know.

...Are you related to Balthazar, by any chance?
Reply
He is one of my younger siblings.

[No surprise, really. They didn't discuss their pasts much beyond what false memories had been implanted in their heads that time.]
...Which means you also know Castiel, then. [It's not a question; just thinking out loud. It's odd timing, really, all of this.]

...So he was -- he is an... angel, then.
I had my... suspicions, but I never asked him outright.
