My sister and I were unable to find him. [There's something in his voice -- a certainty -- that says if they were not able to, no one would be.] He's been gone for several days, at least.
He left not long ago. [Castiel falls silent for a moment, honestly not sure how he feels about that. If pressed, it's guilt that holds court there. And, then, because he feels that she ought to know why he knew about Balthazar:]
As do I. [The vainest of vain hopes and there's a heaviness that Castiel tries to ignore when he says it.] He deserves it. [Maybe God will see fit to bring Balthazar back; after all Castiel has come back before.]

[There's an open flicker of a frown before she shakes her head.] Thanks for letting me know.

We met here, but he's a friend, yeah. [Present tense. She won't use anything else. :|]
I don't exactly keep up with him most of the time, but I noticed I hadn't heard from him in a while. I guess that tipped me off that something was up.

He's my brother.

Oh.
[A pause as she glances aside] ...I knew he had siblings, but I never guessed any of them were here. ["Or that you were one of them" goes unsaid.]

[It's genuine. He's sorry to be the one to have to tell her that a friend is gone. Sorry that he's gone at all.]

[And then she hesitates again, watching him.] What about you? Taking it all right?
[she can read your poker face :|]

Yes, I am.

...Okay.
[A pause, then--] I'm sorry, too. I didn't ask too much about his history while he was here, but... I hope he finds a better time back home.

I'm the one who killed him.
He deserves better than to call me a friend.
I hope you were good to him. He deserved a friend who wouldn't betray him.
He settles on just two words:] Thank you.

Let me know if there's anything I can do. [She doubts it, but... all the same.]
