XVII. [Audio]

I'm beginning to get the feeling this library has a sense of humour.

[There's a faint rustling of paper, and a low hiss as she shifts something.]

I don't suppose anyone knows by what criteria things are imported here? Or if there are any aside from 'does not pertain to this place in any way'.

You are in the library looking for information on this place?

[She is hoping it is the sleepiness make her hear wrong.]

No. I'm looking for something else entirely. I was referencing the lack as the only thing that seems to remain consistent.

[Oh good. So she heard right and the underworld is not full of idiots. There is a stifled yawn.]

Odd. Usually if you are looking for information it is eerily easy to find in that place. What is it you are looking for?

I'm sorry, clarity is - not my strong suit tonight, it seems.

I found rather more than I was looking for. That's why I was curious if anyone knew the criteria for information import, aside from the obvious.

Ghost Librarian, that's my theory.

Except there's no Ghost. [Harry gives her a bit of a hopeless shrug.]

You alright?

There could be. This place seems endless; there are plenty of places for one to hide.

I'm fine. [Which is why she's doggedly sticking to the audio feature, right?]

Trust me there isn't. I know how to track ghost and there isn't one there. It's.... weird.

Oh alright then. Would you mind if I stopped by with some coffee for us or would you flee from my horrible disfigured face? [There's a beat and his voice becomes soft.]
Hey, I've seen worse, I promise you. Let me be a gentleman and get you some coffee and snacks.

Assuming some quirk of this place doesn't allow them to hide.

[There is a long, long pause.] ...You're all the more likely to turn up if I say no, aren't you?

Did you want to know something specific or were you just curious in general?

In general, though it's not quite idle curiosity.

About the Underworld?

No. It's...not important.

At least something here does.

I'm sure most things here do. The senses of humour are just evil.

A Hell full of sadists, can't say I didn't expect it.

If this is expected, I have to say your world's mythology is a little bit appalling.

[His voice is still hesitant when he's speaking to her.] What are you looking for?

I'm just...trying to make sense of a few things. It's not going as well as I'd hoped.

[There's a brief pause.]

I never did thank you, did I? [She honestly can't recall; she'd been delirious when they'd pulled her out. Which she has enough pride to be embarrassed about now.]

There's no need to thank me.

I disagree. You're a better friend than I deserve.
