[The device's video kicks on as the device skids to a stop, followed very quickly by the sound of fluttering wings super-imposed with a body crashing heavily and abruptly to the pavement just outside the market. All the street lamps in the general vacinity shatter almost simultaneously ( Read more... )

[Balthazar is eyeing the screen warily. Strange teenagers using angelic speech cannot possibly be a good sign.]

Yes, and you're also abominably loud.

[He blinks at the video for a moment.]

Oh, I'm sorry. I...loud?

Yes. Howling your success across the spiritual aether, as it were. You're rather lucky the population down here is still so sparse, else you'd have given a veritable flock of very cranky flying men with swords a nightmare of a migraine. [Balthazar: master of the irreverent hyperbole.]

I...wait...you know where this came from?

It's a bit difficult to mistake. There's nothing else in the cosmos that sounds quite like that.

Which, of course, means it's terribly dangerous.

Something being unique doesn't make it dangerous.

If it's unique and I recognize it, it's dangerous. I don't play in the shallow end of the pool.

So recognition didn't transfer. That's a start. Do you know the first thing about what you've got there, or are you - quite literally, in this case - flying blind?

I have angel's Grace, right? That's what Anna-san said.

[Balthazar looks a little pained.] Yes, and I'd really rather not think too hard about how that's possible.

Thankfully, seem to've just discovered the more benign abilities that grants - if the annoying ones. If you don't want to accidentally broadcast something terribly embarrassing to any angel within range, I'd advise getting a grasp on the angelic speech as soon as possible.

O-okay. You said I was thinking really loud, right? So...I should...think more quietly?

Not exactly. It might be more apt to say you should focus on communicating solely by vibrating the air to make sound.

Vibrating...oh, right.

Yes. Human speech really is ridiculously complex.

[The feed flips off, then back on.]

Do make sure you're using it when you speak to any of your friends, would you? If an angelic voice comes along with that borrowed Grace, you could do a great deal of damage, otherwise.

What do you mean? [That sounds important.]

[He looks a little pained. Playing teacher: not really his strong suit.]

Mortals aren't equipped to perceive an angel's true form. With very few exceptions, exposure to our true voice and true shape is extremely painful, and might well do severe and lasting harm.

It wouldn't normally be an issue, but not a one of those powers is natively yours.

Yeah, I realize that. How do I avoid using it?
