It's... come to my attention that the wildlife here isn't exactly normal -- or friendly. Those surprise visitors recently were one thing, but the constant population of monsters around this place seems much more dangerous from what I've seen and heard.

Back home, I was-- [She pauses briefly -- she didn't mean to put it in the past tense. Still, ( Read more... )

What more can you tell me about these creatures?

Not much, I'm afraid. Most of my time here's been spent within the city; I've had contact with some of the... animals that infiltrated the town last week, the city-wide sentient plant that invaded before that, and the humanoid creatures that others have called Darkspawn. The latter are the only ones that I know are still here, and they're not the most dangerous things around, I'd think.

Fortunately I haven't had any encounters yet. I just arrived here recently. I just... want to be prepared should I encounter one later...

[Her voice is entirely patient and kind here.] Until I have more information, all I can advise for now is to try and stay within the city limits. If you have to go outside, travel in groups; keep some kind of weapon on your for self-defense -- preferably a gun, if you know how to use one.

That actually sounds like a good idea. I don't know if you'd want someone as young as me, but I'd help.

Thanks. Like I said, we can use all the help we can get here; what kind of experience do you have, out of curiosity?

I know pretty much all of the monsters from the myths, and I'm a pretty good knife-fighter. I'd prefer strategy, but I can handle myself in a fight.

[She nods.] Good. I felt safe in assuming we had some decent firepower, but strategists are harder to come by. Any information or input you can give will really help.

Thank you. I'm thinking that having volunteers with different backgrounds in fighting styles should be a decent advantage.

It usually seems to be. [She pauses, then continues a little bit wryly.] Provided you can keep people from each other's throats, sometimes.

[There's a knowing tone to her words.] That's always inevitable whenever you have a group of people, especially this large. Hopefully giving us a common objective will help keep things neutral.

I was also an operative for a special forces unit, SOLDIER to be more precise, and I have extensive experience in monster eradication. If we have met, my apologies. I do not recall. I am Sephiroth, SOLDIER First Class.

I'm pretty sure we haven't -- nice to meet you.

We'd be glad to have you on board. [And then, musingly:] SOLDIER -- military, I assume?

Affirmative. As I said, we are a team specialized in the eradication of monsters and other mutated wildlife. Our skills and senses have also been increased to facilitate our responsibilities.

That should be extremely useful, needless to say. If you don't mind, I'd like to compare tactics sometime -- I don't know if you and I have had similar quarry, but it's best to be open-minded in this situation.
