[The device has been turned on, although it appears to be at the side of whoever is holding it. They do not seem to realize they are transmitting, and you are unable to see their face. When the person finally speaks it's the voice of a young man. He lets out a short, humorless laugh.]An animated skeleton? Gods, have I really ( Read more... )

[Bar? Why mention that? That's more than a little distressing... Is he dead? He thought he was going to be dead... but for some reason he's pretty sure that he's not.]

Hades and Hecate...? [Concerned] Are they mages?

[He raises an eyebrow, confused.]

Gods? Their names are unfamiliar to me. [But he's only recently been learning about all the other religions in Valdemar-- let alone the rest of Velgarth, so it's possible he skimmed over those names in class...]

He's kind of frowning at you. Are you trying to make a joke? This isn't funny at all.] That seems childish... Why would they do this?

[Okay. Maybe he's slightly more inclined to believe you than that woman. Ugh.]

I just dealt with one bored prat with too much power. [More than a prat, a sick, sadistic bastard. There's definitely a touch of arrogance in his tone.] I didn't stop him just to be played with by some other pair who believe themselves to be all powerful!

[Glaring, not exactly at you, and picking at his poor, destroyed cloak. He kind of liked it... Lord and Lady, stop it, there's more important things to be concerned about! Like Yfandes. It's silly to ask, since he would know if she was nearby, but...]

... you haven't seen a Companion around here, have you?

And everyone here is a prisoner of these two? [He looks up for a second, taking in the not!sky. It was suffocating.]

No, that's not what I meant... [How can he not know what a Companion is? Can't be from Valdemar then, but as far as Vanyel knew most of the other countries of Velgarth were aware of Heralds. He must be from some far, far, backwater land.]

A horse. Have you seen a large, white horse? With blue eyes.

[Vanyel would have to confirm that with Starwind... he couldn't imagine anyone keeping the Adept prisoner.]

[Blink? Did he not hear that right? Vanyel was having two conversations at once :| So rude.] Worlds?

[Raises an eyebrow. He was already starting to think you were some country bumpkin, so he's not sure he believes you. But that little explanation about being dead in one place and not the other? If that was true then maybe... no, he couldn't get his hopes up like that.

He looks distressed for a brief second, but quickly masks it, and answers your last question in a monotone voice.]

No, I'm not and I've never heard of it. I come from Valdemar, my name is Vanyel.

Ah. [He listens to the little speech, continuing to be thrown off by how flippant you are about all this. Maybe the 'gods' had done something to your mind. Vanyel can't See any outward signs of magic, but maybe the mir-- the tablet interferes with his Sight. Except that there is no sign of magic in it either...]

I appreciate the information. I suppose I'll head to the city now. [He didn't have to search, but maybe as he explored Vanyel would happen upon a familiar face...]
