[Mitsuru had gone downstairs to the kitchen to get some water, she'd been asleep for most of the day, having returned early that morning. There were still a few stray bruises on her hands, but healing spells had taken care of most of her own injuries and a shower had taken care of the dirt. She hadn't been paying attention when Shinjiro walked into the kitchen and she almost dropped her glass as she spun around to face him.]
Shinjiro? [She looked both relieved and concerned to see him.] Are you alright?
[That solved one problem-- he nodded, though still looked a little bit lost. At least Mitsuru was home, and not too much worse for wear.]
Uh-- yeah. Think so. [He really hadn't looked over himself too much. Nothing felt too out of place or ached or anything, though, his regeneration had seen to that.]
[He glanced at one of the chairs-- despite not needing rest, he did feel exhausted. Probably just tired from the initial panic and the lasting confusion. So he just nodded, rather than argue that he'd get the chair filthy, or that he'd at least like to scrape the mud out from under his fingernails. A shower could come later.]
Okay. [So he sat, Aki-chan nosing at his knee until he got a head-scratch, before Shinjiro looked back to Mitsuru.]
...Not really. [Though that question made him dread the answer to his next question. Because if she had asked, maybe she knew:] What did I do. [Already he was going through worst-case scenarios. Had they been charmed again? Had he hurt someone-- caused their death? His stomach turned uncomfortably at the thought.]
[He holds off on responding until he sees Akihiko, simply shaking his head.] No clue. I'd like to know that myself.
[He'd waken up in a damn ditch-- which as much as he joked about being alleytrash, at least he'd never woken up with no memories of why he was asleep in the dirt.] ...And not really. Was hoping you guys would know something.
Here I thought he had me over for croquet and tea. Fuck. [Bitter? A little. But Shinjiro was still trying to wrap his brain around all this, and being a snide asshole was kind of how he dealt.]
Whole lotta nothing, pretty much. Some kinda... dark corner, and the ditch I woke up in. [He'd leave out the more personal remembrances- fire and the brand, for two.]

[She paused awkwardly and put her glass down.]

You realize how unusual it is to have a few days gap in your memory, right?
Reply
Depends on what was going on before the gap. But yeah, this's fucking weird for me.
