The Roadhouse had taken a fair amount of damage during the violent tremors that had shaken the city and badly rattled most residents. Shattered beer glasses were swept into a pile on the floor, next to a bin that contained cracked, broken, and otherwise useless bottles of liquor. There was a noise from the back as Ellen came out, pushing a broom, a distinctly sour expession on her face and a long jagged gash across her forehead.

"Right here Dean," she said, her voice reflecting her fatigue. "Glad those damned quakes finally stopped. You and the rest of the guys all right? Have you checked in with Anna?"

"Yeah, we're good. Anna and Cas didn't take it so good, but they're doin' better now that it's over. Place is a freakin' mess. Jo in the back?" He asked it casually, he didn't want to alarm her, but now that he had spoken to her and made a round to see that Mary's house as well as both Elena's had stayed intact, Dean was getting a little worried.

Jo was the only one still not here and he didn't like that, he stepped in and lifted a chair up , righting a table as he went. "Gonna take us a bit to clean this crap up, but we'll get the place back up and runnin'."

Ellen scowled and continued the monumental task of cleaning up the Roadhouse. "'course it's a damned mess, Dean. These quakes kicked the hell out of us the last couple of days and broke damn near every piece of glass in the whole place."

She swiped at the gash on her forehead, "I sent her back to the house before the tremors got too bad."

A cold feeling settled in the pit of her stomach.

No. Dear God not again.

"Dean?"

Dean's hand froze, to the house, but he'd been by there. Jo wasn't there, of course that shouldn't have come as a surprise. She had a habit of not doing exactly what she was told.

When Ellen said his name the hunter swallowed "She ain't there...." He knew he couldn't lie to Ellen and Dean steeled himself for that look he knew would be on her face when he turned around.

"I'm gonna go look for her." He was already walking for the door, if Jo wasn't here or at home, well then that meant she could be in bigger trouble than she knew what to do with.

A raw surge of panic clawed at her. Not again. No. She couldn't let this happen again. Not when her daughter was here and alive.

"Dean Winchester if you even think about walking out that door without me I will kick your ass clear across the Underworld," she shot back, dropping her broom. "Bobby! Keep an eye on the place!"

She rummaged behind the bar, coming up with her normal pack, loaded with bullets, shotgun shells and a small medical kit. Her shotgun tucked under her arm, she stalked across the bar towards Dean, her jaw set, but her eyes dark with fear.

She couldn't lose Jo.

She wouldn't.

He knew it before she said it and while his instinct was to tell her to stay there, he wasn't going to. He knew she needed to do this as much as he did.

The fear he saw in her eyes was not much different from the same fear that clawed it's way at Dean's insides at the moment.

"I know better than that, come on. We'll start at the house, work our way out."

Dean had a bad feeling and it all kept coming back to that chasm, the hell hounds he and Cas had fought there. And Jo...

She wouldn't go there, alone, would she? Dean's first thought was yes but he hoped what he found at the house now that he was looking for clues would tell him different.

"Damn right you don't," she shot back under her breath. She was too consumed with worry to say much more, or she likely would have spent the entire walk back to the house yelling Dean up one end and down the other for not keeping track of Jo in the first place.

Later. She'd find Jo, then she'd shoot them both purely on principle.

Dean seemed to follow Ellen's lead with the silence, she didn't need to tell him. But he had been trying to take care of Cas and Anna during the worst of it. He'd tried to take care of every one and in the end, he had failed because now Jo was missing. Or worse, but he refused to even think about it, he was not going to let her die, not again.

When they reached the house Dean shot straight upstairs, letting Ellen inspect the down stairs. When he came down out of Jo's room, Dean had that look that said he found some thing.

"Her gears gone."

Her jaw tightened and she turned away, furiously blinking back tears that stung her eyes. She had just gotten Jo back and she was already taking risks again. Didn't she understand? She couldn't lose her. She wouldn't.

"Call Cas," she ordered, her voice rough. "See if he can track her down. I've a pretty good idea where she went."

The damn chasm.
