It wasn't his first look around the place, but with what was pouring out of it, he figured he better have a second one.... )
And then frowned at the way Dean was looking at the chasm. "If you are thinking of going down there, don't."

"Somethin' ain't right with this thing, makes me feel weird, lookin' in there, like I'm seein' things." Dean stepped back from the edge and closer to the angel as his eyes narrowed.
On the other side, he could have sworn he saw some thing all too familiar crawling out "You see that?"

He blinked just before Dean spoke, something prickling at the edge of his senses. He looked up as Dean pointed out the thing across the chasm. "I see it. Hang on." He raised a hand and touched Dean's forehead, to bring them both across the chasm. They landed some distance from the creature; Castiel wasn't so keen on tempting fate quite that moronically.

The hunter cocked his head to the side and just stared for a moment. "Son of a bitch, it's a fuckin' Djinn." He saw the odd markings, the strange eyes and Dean felt his stomach drop. Had it all been an illusion all along? Right as he thought the creature turned it's head, noticing the hunter and the angel and began to advance on them.

"Watch yourself," he told Dean, risking a glance at the pit. If it was spitting out Djinn, there was no telling what might come next. "That is not the only thing in the chasm."

"C'mon on tattoo boy, I'm not lookin' to go to sleep right now." The hunter charged then, the blade almost caught the Djinn but the creature was fast and moved in time to just dodge the hunter as it attempted to grab at him from behind, Dean tucked and rolled at the right moment as he came up behind the creature in a crouched position.

The Djinn, though, was a little faster than Castiel anticipated; it spun on one heel and blocked Castiel's swing with an upraised arm. It shoved back at him, but it really wasn't a match for an angel's strength.
Or an angel who would, when the situation called for it, fight dirty. Castiel landed a left-handed punch straight into the Djinn's throat; it staggered the creature and Castiel lashed out with the dagger, opening a deep gash across its chest. It wasn't a killing blow. Yet.

"Son of a bitch, you're one ugly bastard." Dean finally got his body angled and slammed a boot in to the creatures stomach, while he jerked backward with his weight, sending him and the Djinn in to a roll.
It was a few moments before who would come out on top was obvious and by that point they had reached the edge of that chasm, rather dangerously close as the hunter came out as the one straddled across the creatures chest. Slamming the blade down, it ended up in the Djinn's shoulder as the thing was injured but still managed to throw the hunter off, the man moving quickly to his feet.

The Djinn's throat was sliced open, and it stumbled to a halt, hands rising in vain to try to stem the flow of blood. Castiel raised a hand and, a moment later, the Djinn burst into flames. He probably could have done that in the first place, in all honesty, but venting somehow held some appeal.
He turned, intending to help Dean with his Djinn, despite earlier letting the hunter handle his own battle, but stilled when something dark and too-damned familiar prickled the edge of his senses. His eyes widened and a mere second later, the growling echoed behind him.
Ah, hell.

The hunter froze, like a deer in the headlights, even his blood seemed to stop pumping. It couldn't be, there was no way it could be. The memories of his death rushed back, those claws ripping his flesh. Finding himself on that rack.
Dean took a step backwards, away from the edge as he shook his head "No, no hell no." He knew it, before he even turned, he felt that breath of air on his leg.
"Son of a bitch." The hunter whirled, just in time to dodge what was definitely hell hound claws headed for his leg.

His more immediate concern was Dean and the 'hound snapping at his friend's heels. With a whoosh of displaced air, he appeared at Dean's side, putting himself between the hound and the hunter. He stabbed downward, the tip of the knife driving into the hellhound's neck just behind its skull. That was a killing blow.
He glanced at the chasm, then over Dean's shoulder. "Dean, there are more." So wake up and start shooting.

"How many?" He could feel the breath and the hunter fired out a quick shot, it hit as he heard the beast hit the ground. Son of a bitch, they could be surrounded and the only way he'd know was then they started coming for him.
He whipped that gun around to the right, he thought he heard the ground scrape up there and fired off two more shots "Son of a bitch, it had to be freakin' hellhounds!"

The soft echo of the hellhounds footsteps brought his attention back, and he pointed out the closest hound. "There." Provided the hound didn't move much in the time Dean took to aim, they'd be down one more hound.

Dean fired two rapid shots and the sound of a thud was heard. He dropped the empty clip, grabbed a fresh one from his pocket and slammed it in.
"Bring it on you slobberin' sons of bitches" The hunter muttered as he kept his back to Cas's, making sure that they were at least able to guard each other.

The blade sank into flesh, scoring a lung shot just behind the hound's elbow. Snapping jaws latched onto Castiel's forearm; disgust crossed his features as he shoved the dying hound away.
Two, providing the chasm didn't spit more out at them.

It was that small moment of distraction that cost Dean as the leg of his jeans was suddenly ripped, the claws sinking in to his flesh "AH! SON OF A BITCH!" He bellowed as Dean kicked, landing the blow at the animal's chest even if he couldn't see it.
Enough to send it back, he fired a shot, but heard no thud. The yelp was there, he'd injured it but he could feel it circling him, he just had to get a good aim.
