Being stuck here, of course, was the most pressing and alarming concern. The promise of horrors the place offered couldn't have been brought more potently to home than with the underground city's most recent affliction: terrible, personality-altering jealousy.
It was dealing with that nearly fatal (for her) state in Nate that caused the journalist to be deep in thought when she arrived. Elena was so distracted by her inner troubles that she stood in the doorway for several minutes after she arrived. She was looking but not seeing Jill, eyes roaming over her without actually picking up that her friend had already found a table.
The blonde frowned a little, brow furrowing - trying unsuccessfully to push the slow recovery of the last couple days aside. The silver of her wedding band flashed on her finger as she reached up to tuck a lock of stray hair behind one ear - a gesture that often belayed her nervousness or

Reflexively, she raised a hand and called out -- "Elena!" -- before the other woman's poise and expression caught up with her an instant later. The sight made Jill frown inwardly (as well as look briefly surprised -- had that ring been there before? She was pretty sure not.) but she kept most of it out of her expression -- Elena had put on a pretty bright face upon her arrival, but anything less than that could be expected, really, ending up back here after that much time.
Her smile only faded slightly, but still remained warm and polite as Jill began to rise out of her seat.

She kept her hands on Elena's arms as she glanced her over once, her smile still warm. "You look good," she told her honestly -- leaving out that she also looked worried, distracted, or all of the above. "How've you been?"
