My first jab at a sonnet, or any kind of poem with a prescribed format. Tell me what you think.
A Rose Saved: A Sonnet by Sir Nicholas Schram
What shall I do when cage ensues, and trapped
I am; a wingless bird, in time and space,
Whose once sweet song has since gone sour? I’ve tapped
Your pane, your faceless frame and spied a trace
Red silhouette, beauty divine. No clothes
Can shroud such lushness loud. Though petal falls,
More shine through; shedding love always a rose.
In darkness days, your gentle ways enthralls
My heart, and I am saved, my wings aloft.
You make me fly and sing; o how I sing!
For life was gone, and all my hope bereft
But then there was you, o marvelous thing!
My savior has come, a tender flower;
Who knew your soft petals held such power?
