I bought a 75 cent lighter today for 50 cents at foodmart where the bums gather outside and talk about things and people that don't make any sense to a suburbian fed baby like myself and I thanked the register man who was about forty I'd say and said soft things in a thick accent and I thought about how I should return the favor by doing some grocery shopping there because the rent and the taxes must be insane and he can't afford to hire someone and it would be the least I could do because he stocks all sorts of things and all I ever go in there for is cigarettes and cigarette lighters and then I ask for a discount and he doesn't even hesitate because he has a chance to sell a lighter that's proobably 15cents wholesale for a 35 cent profit instead of the 60 cent profit not including taxes and maybe he doesn't ownn the place but got the job from a family friend or a relative I forgot to look at his hands for a ring but do arabs wear rings or is he bosnian or croatian or turkish or afghani or greek and is he friendly with the bums outside and give them crates to sit on because he finds them entertaining or does he consider them an annoyance that is bad for business and does that have anything to do with him giving a suburban fed baby a 25 cent break on a lighter?
