Video Game Meme - Day 5 & 6
Day 5 - Game character you feel you are most like (or wish you were).
I can't honestly think of one either way. Sure, there might be some traits characters possess that I wouldn't mind having, but on the whole, there isn't a specific character that I really would want to be/am like. Though gaining praise while running around slaying demons in a wolven incarnation of the Japanese sun goddess sounds pretty fun.
Day 6 - Most annoying character.
It generally takes a lot for a character to really grind on my nerves, so the characters that the majority of people hate I usually tolerate just fine. Still, I can think of a couple characters that have really annoyed me over the years. First was probably Tingle from Majora's Mask. He was creepy, stupid, and I just wanted to punt him. I also really, really disliked Meryl Silverburg from the first Metal Gear Solid. I found her to be really shallow and just... annoying in most of the scenes she was in more often than not. Granted, she fully redeemed herself in Metal Gear Solid 4. She's actually one of my favorite characters in Metal Gear Solid now, having gained cool-points and a spine in the fourth game, finally turning into someone actually respectable.
However, the girl that really, really takes the cake of "most annoying character ever" would probably be Shirley Fennes from Tales of Legendia. This beautiful little rosebud is probably the most universally hated character amongst the English-speaking Tales fandom. The entire game more or less consists of chasing her around because she gets kidnapped-or seemingly allows herself to be kidnapped, even better-so many times you almost lose count. There really is no point to the plot for the first 2/3 of the game, because it's just "save Shirley," rinse and repeat. I'd probably be okay with it if she were actually likable, but she's not. She's really whiny. Her character was also very selfish. Anyway, in the end, she basically tries to commit genocide because dear Senel-whom had been in love with Shirley's (dead) sister previously, and now was taking care of Shirley as a "sister"-had the gall to reject her the first time around.
Yeah, that really is world-ending. Senel doesn't love me back! Might as well kill everyone off!
Funny that I still quite enjoyed the game, despite it being a subpar RPG. Hmn.
