Well, damn.
I just found out that I wasn't as covered as I thought I was. Geico isn't going to help with the damage from Katrina.

As it turns out, all I had was state requirements. No comprehensive. Thought I did, but not so. Even though most finance companies require full coverage, (the coverage I have AND comprehensive) my lien holder doesn't require full coverage. I thought it did. I thought I had it. I thought wrong. That's what I get for not reading my policy.
I will definitely try to get FEMA assistance.
Anyway, it idles with a tad bit of roughness and definitely needs a new battery. The engine didn't take on water, even though the dipstick handle separated from the dipstick itself. That's Mitsu for ya. It's got some water damage inside, especially in the spare tire well (read: funky smell and surface rust). The motor for the driver seat is inop, but at least it's stuck in my position. This will only pose a problem because I can't easily access the bolts that hold the seat to the floor.
Lesson learned. I now serve as a cautionary tale for all you kiddies out there who won't eat your vegetables and stay up late watching TV.
