Anna watched the funeral procession from a distance, not wanting to do any more damage on this day. She watched silently, and alone behind a tree. She had told Dean to wait in the car, still not telling him what this whole thing was really about, and just keeping her mouth shut. Now she was hiding behind a tree, watching as the people got up to pay their last respects to the man being buried, wanting so much to be close to them and share her pain with them. She couldn’t though.

She was surprised after all these years that she was still in pain. After everything the family had done to her, she still was hurting when one of them was gone. She shouldn’t care. She really shouldn’t. But she did, and it hurt.

Once the service was over, she headed back to where she had left Dean. She asked him to hold the cab until she got back, and she had made it back to him, holding her arms out to him and he pulled her in, sliding his arms around her shoulders as she held her arms around his waist tightly. He held her for a minute, before kissing the top of her head.

“We should go.”

She pulled back and nodded, starting to get in the cab, before there was a voice behind her.

“Anna?”

Anna turned from Dean, and her eyes widened, “George, I-”

“What the hell are you doing here?” a tall, dark-haired man said as he walked closer to her. “If Mom sees you, she’ll have a fit.”

“We were just leaving-” she said, gesturing back to the cab. She watched her brother’s eyes flit back to the limo with her mother in it, and she turned her back just as her mother made eye contact with him, her hair covering her face.

She watched George’s throat constrict out of the corner of her eye for a moment, before pushing her towards the cab lightly. “I’ll come with.”

“George, what about-”

“We need to talk,” he replied. “They won’t miss me.” He smirked slightly, “Besides-I don’t want to be around them anyway.”

Anna’s eyes flew to Dean, and he shrugged. Anna looked back at her brother and shrugged herself. “If you really wanna-”

“I do,” George replied, before waiting for them all to climb into the cab.

Anna had disappeared to the bathroom for a minute, and George and Dean were left staring at each other over cups of coffee. They were both looking each other, eyeing each other like they were both the trying to be the leader of the pack, and neither trusted the other.

“So-Dean, was it?” George began, picking up his coffee cup. Dean nodded, and George nodded with him, “How did you two meet?”

“Friend of a friend,” Dean replied quickly.

“Oh,” George nodded again. “You two happy?”

“Depends on the day,” Dean smirked, and George grinned.

“Yeah, that was me and her when we were kids.”

“And you’re her brother, right?” Dean asked.

“Adopted brother,” George replied, “They adopted Anna when I was eight.”

“How old was she?”

“Four,” he replied. “But I’m sure she’s told you all that.”

“Actually, she hasn’t. Hasn’t really been relevant.”

“Oh,” George nodded. “I see.”

“Yeah,” Dean sighed, scratching the back of his neck. “You know, I should probably just head back to the motel, and let you two talk.”

“No, stay,” George replied. “She obviously wants you here, or she would have asked you to go. She can be-blunt like that.”

Dean watched the man for a minute, before speaking up again. “Look-why did you call her, if nobody wanted to see her?”

“I want to tell her that myself,” George replied. “I really didn’t think she’d come.”

Dean nodded and it was a few more minutes before Anna emerged from the bathroom. She slid into the booth next to Dean, and looked over at her brother.

“So-why did you call?”

“You were mentioned in Dad’s will,” George replied, sliding a hand through his hair. “It hasn’t been read yet to the general public, but as the executor of Dad’s will-”

“You were responsible for tracking everyone down,” Anna nodded. “So when do I have to appear to the family?”

“Tomorrow, the will is being read at the grave site. If you’d be there-”

“I’ll be there,” she nodded. “Don’t worry.”

“Good,” George sighed, before finishing off the rest of his coffee. “I better get back before Mom blows a gasket. I’ll see you tomorrow?”

“Tomorrow,” she nodded. He got up and gave her a kiss on the cheek, before walking out of the diner. Dean watched him go before turning back to her.

“Brother, father, mother,” Dean sighed. “Got a whole little family here.”

“Yeah,” she replied, leaning into his shoulder. “Coming tomorrow?”

“Sure you want me to?”

“Yeah,” she nodded. “Yeah, I do. Just in case.”
