Master of Orion 3: Did anyone ever figure out how to make this game playable and enjoyable? It's been a couple of years now, so someone must have, right? If not, is there anything else that scratches that turn-based conquer-the-universe itch? I really wanted to enjoy MOO3, but it just never happened.

For the turn-based conquer-the-universe itch, I'd try Galactic Civilizations. GalCiv2 is just out in stores, but the original is also available from the company (www.galciv1.com).

D&D Online? Bleah. Lukewarm to terrible reviews from all but the most shameless shills.

I'm leary of NWN2. Hopeful, but leary. KotOR II wasn't that great and, in fact, was quite terrible at points. But... if it'll run under Linux like NWN1, I'll pick it up anyway. Just to show my support.

If you want a casual poke at another MMOG, sign up and get a free 8 hour trial of Vendetta Online. I'm considering signing up for a month or so to see how the gameplay matures.

That sounds tempting... I'll take a look. Thanks!

(sigh) That's what I was afraid of. They had some demo videos out last month and I was less than impressed with the action (and I kept thinking they should hire some actual voice talent instead of using that guy from marketing). Ah well.

I really enjoyed NWN, so I'll err on the hopeful side too.

I think I'll look for something where I don't have to interact with my fellow man, many of whom annoy me. Just a nice little escape. I'm also not sure I'm in the mood for a "fast-paced, realtime 'twitch' style combat model" at the moment. Thanks though!

Say, do you have those Playa' shirts in Cafe Press? I was going to link but I couldn't find them.

I think that piece of marketing doesn't do the game justice, but I certainly understand the desire for a bit of a solo game.

Didn't Oblivion hit the streets yesterday?

Oh, and NWN2 lost its lead designer yesterday, long live the lead designer (link).
