Quirks

A wee bit of distraction in a Monday morning meme. Tagged by playing_tragic.

A. List seven habits/quirks/facts about yourself.
B. Tag seven people to do the same.
C. Do not tag the person who tagged you or say that you tag "whoever wants to do it."

1. I take everything you say literally. Yes, the language-and-symbol-interpreting part of my mind kicks in after a beat to figure out what you actually mean, but the literal meaning usually sticks in my head. Side effect of hypnosis training, I think.

2. A lot of my RPG characters are based on the life cycle of the evil magician - typically either the Faustian fall of dangerous knowledge or the redemption of dangerous knowledge by serving a higher cause.

3. I collect movie soundtracks. I'll listen to a soundtrack a lot more often than I'll watch a movie. Bad movies can have great soundtracks.

4. In terms of sensory modalities I'm a lot more kinesthetic than most people, so I've learned (after years of confusion) to generally let other people set whatever physical boundaries they're comfortable with and then match them. It's amusing when I run into someone who does the same thing because we typically read each other as stand-offish.

5. My favorite composer at the moment is Shostakovich.

6. There's an obsessive part of my mind that completely understands why a spirit would need to stop and count all of the scattered seeds before entering or leaving somewhere.

7. I place a very high value on individually crafted things - items, performances, ideas. When someone turns raw materials into something new, that act of creation strikes me as a kind of wondrous alchemy. Somehow, something gets lost when it's done on a production line.

Tagging Galileo, Ann Radcliffe, the Marquis de Sade, the person who thought Custer's plan was stupid and went home instead, Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, Ricardo Montalbán, and Eddie the Spreadsheet Guy (or anyone who cares to speak for them).
