[he sets the device down on the table and pushes it away, giving all his focus to his brother. it still hurts to look at him, but he's swallowing that pain and putting on his happiest facade today, because this is luca's day -- the first birthday he's ever had where they haven't been cold and hungry; a birthday he was never going to have.]

What do you want to do today? We can make this one a lot more fun than any birthdays we had before.
