Harry/Draco -- Wake Me Up When September Ends
Okay, so here's my first Harry/Draco fanmix! This is the first of three I'm preparing, so this one, to start, is an angsty one... the next will be happy I swear! I'm going to X-post them to fandomsounds and fanmix, but you guys get first dibs on them because I love you all so much! :D

I've picked out the important lyrics from each song and given them a page each, but I mostly end up writing out the whole song because OMG, they all have such meaning!!! XD I'm such a geek! I also give a little explanation for each song, just so you know how my twisted mind works... I waffle an awful lot! :D
But now! On to the free musak...
Sad angsty song. I weep for the loss of Elliott Smith to suicide! ;_; Lines like "[they] push and shove and won't bend to your will, I'll keep them still" make me think of Harry keeping Draco from the people he can't control, because Draco is such a little bossy boots. "The things you could do, you won't but you might, the potential you'll be, that you'll never see" What is Draco capable of? Is he going to go off and join the Death Eaters... and make Harry sad. "Separate from the rest, where I like you the best". I get the impression that Draco isn't so much of a bastard when he and Harry are on their own. ;D
Very simply... "Draco, WILD HORSES COULDN'T DRAG ME AWAY FROM YOU!!"... but seriously, lines... "Childhood living is easy to do", simply said, it's easier for them when they still go to school, but what's going to happen to them when they have to leave? Not to mention that it's easier to act like little boys and throw stones at each other rather than have to deal with all these grown-up feelings. "I watched you suffer a dull, aching pain". I think of Draco observing Harry and his Voldemort induced scar headaches in this line... not to mention all the other agonies poor Potter has to go through. I love this song. I think this version is better than The Rolling Stones original version, but that's just me.
Here we go with the eighties vibe, this would have been just out around the time they were both born. Mother will never understand why you had to leave, but the answers you seek will never be found at home, the love that you need will never be found at home". That just says Draco to me, totally. "Pushed around and kicked around always a lonely boy. You were the one they talked about around town as they put you down" And that part is definately Harry. There's also talk of standing lonely on train platforms that makes me think of Harry too.
Another retro song that would have been around when they were kidlets. I think I can allow this song to speak for itself, love will tear us apart. "the resentment rides high, but emotions won’t grow, and we’re changing our ways, taking different roads, then love, love will tear us apart again". I think this whole song speaks for a future in their relationship where everything has gone a bit sour, and they don't really know why they're still together, but they can't leave because they're still really hot for each other... *sigh*
I hear this song, and I think of Harry's insatiable sexual need desire for Draco, but tinged with uncertainty and doubt and a feeling he should really be involved with him at all. "He burns my skin, I ache again, I'm over you". The bit that really gets me is the line "Your hands reach out and touch me still, but this feels so wrong"... So wrong that it's right Harry?
OMG ANGST... sorry I love this song so much. 1996 the album was out so Harry could have heard it in 5th and 6th year. This one is pure need. "In the night, I could be helpless, I could be lonely, sleeping without you. In the day, everything's complex sooo bloody complex with these two, there's nothing simple, when I'm not around you"... oh god, it absolutely stinks of teen angst, raging hormones and lusting after people you can't get... I speak from personal experience here! "Hold on to my hands, I feel I'm sinking, sinking without you".
This song is the end of their Hogwarts days, when you get the feeling that they're heading off to be on opposite sides of the war. The childosh games are over. "Summer has come and passed, the innocent can never last". What does the future hold for our star crossed lovers? "Like my father's come to pass, seven years have gone so fast" Were they always destined to be like their fathers; enemies? "becoming who we are"... *weeps* Plus the fact that after I had heard this and thought of H/D, Green Day went and made the music video of a young kid going off to war in Iraq and leaving his girlfriend behind... I thought it rang a bell... Voldie and the whole shebang.
I'm going old school here. You gotta love The Eagles, they rock my world. And I know this is such a dorky thing to say but Draco has an eagle owl!! XD "Look at us baby, up all night, tearing our love apart" For me, those two are secretly crazy about each other... emphasis on the crazy... but you can just imagine Draco being dysfunctional and periodically sabotaging any relative bliss by being a total bastard and getting Harry riled you... ending in a big screaming argument... makes the make-up sex even better though ;D! "Aren't we the same two people who lived through years in the dark"... I think this is self-explanatory ;D. "Everytime I try to walk away, something makes me turn around and stay".... need I say more?
I'd love to have give you all a big zip of everything but... dial-up is a slow bitch! :(
