❝ THE WAY IT GOES ❞
GAME MISSION STATEMENT
In the year 2020, when the world lay in ruin and the repercussions of man's endless wars manifested themselves in the form of humankind being turned into the undead, the United Nations came up with a plan to salvage what was left of the planet. No one knows for sure, but people started to wake up in hospitals all over the world. There's no way home, you might as well stop thinking about it, you're here now. You were told that you were registered with four other strangers and you better do what you're told or else you'd be fried or if God happened to take salvation on you, shot. Your head feels funny, itchy. Did they do something to you? The doctors won't answer. But, what you don't know is that you've been tagged like cattle.
You're Survivors, you're the only ones that can scour the planet for safe havens for humans. Some are in bunkers underground, others are in major cities fighting for their lives. Whatever it is, you better get in that Hummer and start traveling- that is if you can fight your way to them.
GAME MECHANICS
The focus of the game is to get from Point A to Point B and survive. However, since this is a zombie game with limited supplies, things are going to have to get creative. The game focuses heavily on character interactions for your character to survive. There are two ways to do this: logging and network posts.
☣ Network posts are made from the iSurvive app on characters' iPhone. These posts are usually for long distance transmissions (such as phone calls) or for interactions that cannot be done in person. Actionspam (or action tags) are very plausible on network posts ©in lieu of logs for in-person interaction depending on a situation. Players can also use these network posts to share their feelings about the journey ("I killed a man by squeezing his eyeballs today, I wonder if Cillian Murphy is proud?" ) or feelings about another character ("Seriously, what idiot turns on all the lights in an amusement park and expects everything to be alright?). More information about the network and communication can be found in the communication section.
☣ Log entries are made for in-person interactions. The nature of the game is to play out how certain people interact when they're forced to be a team and traveling in a hummer while fighting off zombies. Logs are usually used in place of actionspam when there isn't necessarily a post that leads into it and are usually more open for people in the hummer or in SafeZones to interact. These are not mandatory, but encouraged: we want to see dysfunctional people trying to work together to stay alive.
GAME CYCLES
The game is divided in cycles in order for players to experience the campaigns of Left4Dead and the journey of Oregon Trail. Cycles begin in major cities (Washington D.C, for example) and end when the entire convoy reaches another one (Oregon, another example). Each cycle is approximately 3 months long. The game is split into two separate application cycles.
When game cycles start, applications are open continuously for roughly two weeks. After that applications are only open on weekends right as convoys reach SafeZones and are about to leave them. Applicants who arrive in SafeZones, rather than being applied at the start of a cycle, start with basic hummers and with fewer supplies (or more, depending on how people choose to harness theirs) and they leave later.
What happens between SafeZones and destinations are up to players. Characters are free to be zombified (as long as mods are aware), eaten, shot, killed - whatever you want. Once a cycle ends, players have a choice of being reshuffled into different hummers, being regenerated, dropping characters that have been shot or zombified, cured etc... characters are not allowed to stay behind. Those who choose to stay in cities and deny their mission will be taken and shot.
The game follows this pattern, but patterns are schedule to change depending on the map and stops are long the way. All time is in real time. Applications are always open.

Characters applied will always wake up in a safe location before heading out in a convoy.
CHARACTER POWERS & NON HUMAN CHARACTERS
Due to that nature of world and the fact that the game doesn't want to make fighting zombies easy for you, character powers are restrained to operate in the most ironic ways. To be fair to everyone, characters will god like powers are restrained to using them for the most inconvenient things. Rapid healing would be reduced the healing of papercuts or minor scrape, inhuman strength would be changing tires or opening bottles etc...
Special Snowflakes who want their characters immune to the virus or any of the fallout in fallout areas.
Non human characters are dealt on a case-by-case basis. :) Do not be discouraged to app them; the mods will work with you.
If you have any questions about character powers, please feel free to ask them on the application page or on the FAQ page.
CHARACTER CONFLICTS (MICROCHIP)
The tag that has been placed on characters is actually a microchip sitting between the middle of the brain. It is placed between the gap between sensory and motor functions of the brain, because when it comes to being a survivor, you have to listen to the people that got us here in the first place.
We realize that not everyone is going to get along and we realize the concept of killing for the GREATER GOOD of man. However, the United Nation in their infinite wisdom made it impossible for one person to harm another. That chip registers you to the Hummers, if you stray too far from it or you try to desert it before you reach a major city for it to recalibrate and register with another convoy.
IT WILL NEVER MALFUNCTION.
OR WILL IT?
CHARACTER DEATHS (ZOMBIFICATION)
The game gives characters the option to have their characters to become one of the zombie. Like in Left4Dead, your characters can be felled by the zombies and just like in 28 Days Later, they can become an infected. However, as a result of their death, characters do have to suffer.
- Character dies
- Character regenerates in a SafeZone
- Character remembers none of the CR they created and the events in the game up to that point, only the fact that they died and how they died.
- Character gets reassigned to another Hummer and loses all the achievements, weaponry and wealth they might have accumulated.
Characters can become zombies and die once every other cycle.
Players are free to be creative with how your character becomes a zombie and the zombification process. Players must get mod approval for their character to become a special infected.
VEHICLES
Vehicles are modified Hummers. They have room for 8 (5 + supplies) ,GPS, Stereo, DVD and TV for the backseats (if you really want to attract zombies), power steering, power locks - the works. As the game progresses, players are allowed to pimp their ride.
The downside? Only 55 miles per gallon with a 32 gallon tank (bad for 2020 standards).
COMMUNICATION
Network posts are usually treated as: mass texts via a plurk interface (where all replies are deemed visible), radio transmissions over a public channel where everyone can hear them or streamed video (such as a LiveStream interface where people can chat about the video). Accidental posts are possible and mods do endorse the use of fuck you autocorrect!
- Video (Facetime & Face@Face)
- Text
- Voice (Phonecalls & radio over channels)
- Internet
- YouTube
- Apps
- ZombieDex (Gotta Kill 'Em All!)
- MP3
Laptops, Tablets, PCs will only be in major hubs, cities and SafeZones. If you want to battle with dial up attracting the horde.
ZOMBIES (SPECIAL)
Special infected are taken from Left4Dead by Valve Games. They vary from location to location. These are zombies that have mutated in such a peculiar way that characters have to think of their feet.
A biologist by the name of Professor Zoak will ask you to take pictures and send back specifics to his lab.
These vary from location to location.
MISSIONS
Missions are optional side events for characters to participate in. They can vary from gathering supplies for others, getting special Ju Ju Juice from a medicine man in order for him to use his grenade launcher on a zombie hive etc... They can vary from place to place and they will always be announced a week or two before they are made available. Generally, they are available in when a cycle is about to start or just about end.
These missions are different from community events when applications close down and the entire community can participate in taking care of hoards or signaling for help etc...
