Maybe I'm going to try to update more this year. Maybe.
So the race to the altar has begun...I've been having acquaintances and such getting married over the past couple of years since we've been out of college, but next weekend starts the period of about a year or so where many of my best friends are getting married...Meghan, Shanna, Heather...Not to mention, the girls in my section from first year (not all of whom are good friends, but were girls I had regular contact with) have been dropping like flies over the course of school, but there's the inevitable mad dash right before the bar next summer...Not that I'm aching to get married, but it makes me think about my own relationship situation. I'm not ready for any of that, but I do want it eventually. But what do I have to show for it? Stress about where I want to be and what I want to do next year. Oh, and a stomachache, as I have had more tortilla chips, ice cream, brownies, and cookies and other miscellaneous crap (basically nothing of nutritional value) in the past 2 days than I care to admit. I NEVER eat this much! (Not weighing myself for a week and planning on get back on the elliptical machine first thing tomorrow...) I will note that Carolina blue is a very popular color for bridesmaids dresses and decorations, apparently...as of September, the last 3 weddings I will have attended will have had Carolina blue themes. While I love Carolina blue, it almost makes me want to pick another color for my wedding just to be different...but that's a long long long loooonnnggg time from now...
I did have a good time this weekend--it's been good to be back at school and then to see old friends and catch up. The best had to be to learn that an old high school classmate of ours (who had converted to Orthodox Judaism upon graduation--now the guy was always Jewish but he just got hardcore about it after school) had gotten married and then had a baby that they of course gave some terrible-sounding Hebrew name. Oh, and they live in Cleveland, an area where Orthodox Jews aren't that common (at least from my understanding--correct me if I'm wrong.) But neither of that's the bad part--the kid's going to get picked on even more for this reason: the baby's initials ended up being YAY. Some friends of ours from school sent him a baby bib and various other monogrammed babywear with YAY on it, and, just for effect, had the monogrammers add an exclamation point to the end. I want to die laughing every time I picture the poor kid wearing his little YAY! bib :)
It's been cute to see 1Ls coming in all nervous and excited about everything. Best 1L quote of the night, though, had to come from this group of 1Ls who came up to my friend and me on Friday night when we were out at the annual kick-off party (so I like to think I'm cute, and then of course my friend is nearly 6' with gorgeous long hair and a body to kill for), and just gawked and said, "Y'ALL are in law school?!" Yes, contrary to popular belief, there ARE cute girls in law school...
