Supernatural: Her I Must Follow On Down

Dec 08, 2009 20:42

Eight angels in the garrison are dead. supernatural. castiel, anna. 206 words. pg-13.

Seven angels in the garrison are dead and now their murderer joins them.

Eight angels, then.

Castiel stands slowly, staring at the black powder imprint of angel's wings that spread out from Uriel's corpse, only vaguely aware that Anna's still beside him, the guilty knife in her hand.

"You came back." He can't think of anything else to say. The sting of Uriel's betrayal hurts as much as Anna's own Fall did, once upon a time, and being caught between the angel who would have killed him in pursuit of a disobedience that made Anna's blasphemy pale in comparison and the angel who abandoned him because she couldn't take it anymore is like being caught between the devil and the deep blue sea.

Almost literally.

"I was worried you wouldn't figure it out." She passes the knife over to him and when he refuses to take it, she forces his fingers around the hilt. For a moment, all he can do is stare at the bloodied weapon in his hands and wonder what this means for him. More than he can bear, more than likely.

And she still won't tell him what to do.

Instead, she says, "You have a long way to go, Cas. Maybe you'll get it one day."
