Finally got my new laptop (a Samsung R20 core 2 duo 2GB 160GB) as an early birthday present, my real b'day is in December so I often get given clothes and jewelery but usually the sort of things things to wear at Christmastime (and to send to the charity shop in January), this is a much better pressy and a trillion times more needed and appreciated. Still trying to get used to Vista having had XP on the previous beastie. So with luck I'll be online a bit more regularly now. I really need to say sorry to those friends whose birthdays I've missed, and also to the authors of the many excellent stories that I've read but been unable the leave feedback
As I seemed to have time on my hands, due to the lack of on line amusement, I decided to organise all of my Mum's finances and filing (she's blind and can't do it herself). I can safely say that prior to the sort out she hadn't thrown any paperwork away since forever - I filled 3 large recycling bins just with the non sensitive stuff and the ancient bank statements made a nice big bonfire. As normal I found all sorts of things that needed sorting out in the finances but was quite disturbed by a discovery that the pensions agency, who had sent a representative to check all of the relevant paperwork and to make sure that Mum's forms were filled out correctly, had made a large but fundamental error in their calculations and Mum should have been receiving an extra credit for the past two years. It is worrying because a lot of the people that they send representatives out to are incapable of helping themselves and have no body to check that things have been done properly.
The Dearly Beloved (the Hubby) has a rotten cold and is very snuffly and sorry for himself - sort of woebegone with a hint of early christian martyr. Gremlin, our daughter, is enjoying college and will be spending a fair few hours this weekend filling out forms to do work experience in hospitals and hospices - to and from which, I suspect, I will have the pleasure of providing the parental taxi service. Just lucky I guess. So it's 2.30am and a busy day to come so Good Night.
