Alright, so I've finally had a chance to catch up on sleep and all that jazz. Thank gawd. Now I have a test to study for and a paper to write before I leave for Chicago!!! I'm leaving for Houston on Thursday night and then my flight leaves around 1 PM on Friday! Woohoo!!!! I'm sooo excited. Except the Strokes changed their tour date, so I won't be able to see them on the 18th in Chicago anymore. So my friends and I decided to go to Madison, WI that night and see Longwave! It's a free show at the University of Wisconsin! Woohoo! I'm excited.
Lets see, I have a bunch of shows to talk about and I really don't feel like typing up my normal reviews, so here are some brief highlights:
Longwave - the music was just as amazing as always. Brandi & I hung out with Steve for most the night in Dallas and ran into Maroon5. Then in Austin I saw a bunch of OK Go boardies I hadn't seen in awhile and that was awesome. Austin was like a schmooze night and a weird feelings night though, because I got some news about my dad that was really troubling, etc. Found out everything is okay yesterday though. But anyway, during their encore they brought Little Mike and Trey out to play Race Cars!!! That was a major treat, I love that song (it's trey's old bands song). And it was really good to see Big Mike again. Glad he's back.
Interpol/Elefant/The Occasion - So why is it whenever I have an extra to give away I can't ever get rid of it. haha. You'd think people would jump at a free ticket. hehe. Anyway, the show was really good. A LOT BETTER THAN I WAS EXPECTING!!! And the openers really surprised me, plus their drummer looks just like JD. And sounds like him too. Elefant was REALLY good live. And Interpol was better than I remember them being. I talked to Charles from The Occasion during most of their set though (the drummer) and then ended up going to Interpol's 21+ After Party down the street with him and the guys of Elefant. A lot...and I mean A LOT...of good times right there. OH! SOUNDteam played at the Stubb's after party and Clint has been trying to get me to see them for forever. They were REALLY good. Michael invited me to their after party which I made it to around 3 AM after the Interpol party got broken up due to Diego (Elefant's lead singer). haha.
Stellastarr* - The reason I'm not labeling this with The Raveonettes is because I was two Stellastarr* shows that one day and was barely paying attention to The Raveonettes until the last half of their set. Anyway, it was really good to see these guys again. Arthur and Manda aren't as much of a problem as they were on the Longwave tour. Michael was soooo happy to me and that really made me feel good. And he kept buying me Jack & Coke which is awesome. Sean...is just like a remember him *rolls eyes* haha. Anyway, their sets are getting to be a lot better and that's awesome. And they had just gotten their first print of their first music video and so we all watched it in the van. IT'S REALLY REALLY GOOD! Make sure you guys check it out when they post it online or on MTV2 whenever it's released. Their friend that did it has some amazing talent!!! And he's just starting out.
Glass Intrepid - so I read in the daily texan that they were playing and was like "I should go" and then later than night Bryan called me and was like "you better come!" Turns out the configuration has changed and now there are only 3 guys with Bryan singing. And man, they are even better! I was quite impressed and felt bad that only like 15 people were there. But then again, Red Eyed Fly is hella small anyway.
And tonight I'm supposed to see Cory Branan. So yeah, it's been a busy week. School is going good. Still waiting to hear the results of RTF test from last week. I feel pretty dang good about it though. So I'm not really worried.
OH! I bought a "toy" button maker at Walmart the other day and have made my own Longwave buttons so far. I love them! hehe. Alright, well I think that's everything.
Gill - if you read this. Give me a number to call you on since you lost your cell so we can discuss Friday. Cool?
