Craziness
I just got back from Minnesota. OMG. 30 hours of driving! We decided to go through Madison, Wisconsin to see Aidan's cousin. It was a lot of fun. Such a beautiful city.
So, Kate wins Dumbass of the Year Award. We were headed down through Illinois. I was driving and Aidan was sleeping. The interstate split and I didn't notice and accidentally went east instead of south. Then I started seeing signs for O'Hare airport and all this other weird stuff and I woke up Aidan and asked "What is O'Hare?" and he goes "We're in CHICAGO!" Yup. We ended up in Chicago. It was beautiful though. So Aidan wasn't mad. It was a funny detour. Cost us about 4 hours though.
Down through St. Louis. So fucking gorgeous. We went through it at night.
We drove all night long. Stopped for ONE HOUR to sleep. It was so much fun.
Peeing on the side of the road behind a bush was NOT fun though.
ANI WAS SOOOOO AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Aidan and Laura and I saw Ani in concert in Minneapolis. That was the point of the trip. Margaret Cho opened for her. So that's the 3rd time I've seen Ani this year. Crazy. It was awesome though. Aidan posted the set list on his LJ. She played a lot of new awesome songs. And her encore was.. Little Plastic Castle!!! Everyone sang along to it and screamed and it was so awesome.
Hanging out in Minnesota was awesome too. It was really beautiful. We saw the Mall of America, biked around the Mississippi River (GORGEOUS!!!), got lost in Minneapolis at night looking for Uptown and found a cute little cafe owned by a Somalian family where we had cheesecake and watched some of Pulp Fiction. Awesome.
I had sooooo much fun!!!!!!!! Spontaneous long road trips are da bomb!!!
