Julian, age 6, update!
Been meaning to do this, since I did one about Luka.
Julian is fantastic. He's like a model kid. He's very popular, and makes friends wherever we go without trying. It's an excellent personality trait, especially since he is so kind to everyone and not a mean popular kid.
He's a great swimmer-- he always has been, but he's getting up there now-- can probably swim on a team next summer. He can swim free style and back stroke and is learning some other strokes and dives.
His indoor soccer season just ended, and he was doing well. He wasn't the superstar of the team (and there was one), but was pretty good. During the fall season he excelled at defense but wasn't much at offense, and now he can play both well. He has the summer off from soccer (phew!)
He really likes gymnastics and I think he has a lot of talent. He is very strong for his age and fearless, which is important when you're in a sport that involves flying through the air.
He doesn't love "school" but we're trudging along. He's reading at or above grade level, finally, and math comes easily to him when I can get him to sit still and do it. We moved down from a 2nd grade math book to 1st grade and he can whiz through 10 pages in a row if he is in the mood, whereas he could only do 1 or 2 at a time in the other book because it was so challenging.
As always, he's so loving and generous. He does get angry at Luka a lot these days and that's really the only thing I can complain about. It's understandable, since Luka is, after all, annoyingly 3, but Julian used to have a lot of patience for him and that's dried up. They have a very brotherly relationship nowadays.
His favorite things to do are playing outside and drawing. His drawings are hilarious and usually involve Star Wars characters with light sabers. I should scan some to post because they're great.
