I don't post enough, so here's a post about Luka. I'll do a Julian post soon. This is mostly for my own memories-- Luka at 3 yrs. + 2 mos. old.
Luka is still going through his evil 3 yr. old phase. He's gotten a teensy bit better, though. He hates sleep and gets angry easily. And then he'll pout for a long time, occasionally saying, "I'm still upset!" He hates to be laughed at.
He knows every letter and sound and can read short words. He needs a lot of encouragement to do it, though, and would prefer for adults to tell him what things say than to read himself. He's a very sloppy writer but he does write his name and really likes to trace letters and words.
He's obsessed with puzzles and can do 50 piece ones.
He plays soccer and has good control over the ball. They don't play "real soccer" which upsets him and he gets bored with the class, which is 20 preschoolers in a gym with their own balls doing variations on "dribble slow" and "dribble fast." He'll make up his own games like dribble around the edge on the black line or dribble for a while then try to jump over the moving ball (which is sooo dangerous I try to stop him).
He's learning to swim, and has expended more effort at this than anything else he's ever done. It's really hard for him but he puts his whole heart in it. I'm really happy to see it as things are usually easy for him or "too hard" and he won't try.
He loves his school and adores his teacher. He insists on going next year, but I'd rather him not (it's likely he's going to be homeschooled after that, and driving him there and back 3x a week is a pain.
He likes video and computer games a lot. He's allowed 1 hr. per day but he'd be on the computer/Wii/Leapster all day long if we let him. It's a good thing we don't watch TV.
He really likes meat and cheese and likes to say, "I'm a carnivore!" It's hard to get veggies in him, although dips are a hit. He'd eat variations of cheese + bread every day if I let him (quesadillas, grilled cheese, pizza, ravioli, mac n cheese, etc.)
He likes to draw and will draw things like "a spider with a mohawk" (circle, 8 legs, and a triangle on top).
He's obsessed with space, knows most of the planets, and is into learning about different types of stars. Yesterday he said "I love you all the way to Neptune" and I said, "I love you all the way to Pluto" and he got mad because Pluto's not a planet and he wants me to love him all the way to a planet so I said, "Okay, I love you all the way to Neptune, too." Then he was happy.
