overdue update.

We went to Kentucky. It was not warm, which was disappointing to say the least. It was so nice to see all my friends, though. It made me more homesick to be there than not being there. I had a birthday while there, with a really fantastic little get-together/barbecue. I had a great time.

I saw my father while we were in KY. For those who don't know, my dad used to be an engineer (say 12-25 years ago) but alcoholism, depression, anger problems, and so forth caused him to fail at his career, 3 marriages, and parenting. He spent a year in jail 2-3 years ago (for DUI and failure to pay child support for about 10 years), and had no teeth for a couple years. Since then he's been sometimes homeless, generally off the wagon, depressed, and aggressively negative as usual. He's doing much better now, he has dentures, a clean-ish apartment, was sober when I saw him, and was fairly pleasant to be around for the first time in nearly a decade. Thank goodness.

My job is great. I am so glad I'm finally doing it! I feel so much more content with my life than I did as a stay-at-home mom after I finished college. Rumor has it that a birth center might be opening in Louisville, and I'd love to work there in a couple years while Rob dissertates.

The kids are a handful. Luka recently learned to pedal his trike so he's riding circles around outside as I type. The two of them fight a lot more these days than they did when I could convincingly make the argument that Luka was a baby. Julian gets upset that Luka doesn't share (he really is terrible about sharing and taking turns!) It's nice not to be nursing finally. I'm never tandem nursing again!!!

We're moving next month, to this place: gocoho.org where we'll share a 4BR, 3BA with my friend and fellow apprentice Susan, her husband and 2 little ones (who are 3 and 1.5). I'm looking forward to it, although the actual move sounds awful. If anyone wants to come to Ann Arbor and help us move, the 25th-29th of June, you're more than welcome to stay with us (in either house) and get fed pizzas and margaritas.

What's up with y'all?

Also, go Spurs!
