Not in my backyard or anyone else's, Robert Dewar

This is sick. Kenneth Rhodes of Thompson, Manitoba, will remain on the loose in the community while serving a two-year conditional sentence.

Judge Robert Dewar has elected not to send this convicted rapist (or, in Dewar's words, "clumsy Don Juan") to jail because "the victim and her friends were wearing tube tops with no bra, high heels and plenty of makeup." Dewar then had the gall to add that he 'didn't want to blame the victim' (who, by the way, was understandably traumatized by the attack and is now afraid to set foot outside her own home). The defense lawyer went on record to state that since his client never threatened the woman and didn't have a weapon, he was guilty only of being "insensitive to the fact (she) was not a willing participant."

So if a guy on the street calls me 'faggot' and I react by assaulting him, I can claim I 'didn't know' he didn't want to be attacked and simply went after him because most of the time when strangers hurl homophobic abuse at me, it's because they want to start a fight. Well, I could if this shit-for-brains Dewar was trying my case, anyhow. (Ten to one he wouldn't be nearly as sympathetic to that argument if it were coming from me instead of some good ol' boy who just got a little carried away and didn't really hurt anyone.)

RAGE.

P.S. Winnipeggers, there's a rally at the Law Courts from noon til one tomorrow.
