It's taken me 5 weeks and an imminent job offer to go through the four cartons of stuff I brought home from my office after being laid off.
One carton's worth is repacked, ready to come along with me to my new gig.
One carton's worth were useful items, like CDs I listened to at work, or crayons for my son to use when he stopped by for a visit. They have been/will be integrated into the household.
Another carton's worth was shoes, half of which are going to the charity shop. The other half I'll sell on eBay; that's why I'd taken them to my office in the first place, but never got around to it. If I don't manage it before returning to work, they'll go to the charity shop, as well.
The fourth carton's worth was trash. Not only that, most of it has been trash for quite a while, like the coupon that expired in 2007.
That was not a typo.
I don't think I'd ever added these things to my total for the year, so I won't count them now. I just wanted to be on the record about having finally dealt with them.
