Mother's Day, etc etc
I've been down at Mom's house since Wednesday. Feels like less time than that since I've been recovering from a bad cold and we haven't done as much gallivanting as we normally do.
When I got here, the azaleas were in full bloom and one rose was open. It's been so warm the azaleas are done and the rose bush is about 2 days away from full bloom with 20 or so roses.
Mother's day activities:
1. Homemade king cake for breakfast. Seasonally inappropriate, but delicious, nonetheless!
2. Went to see Tina Fey and Steve Carell in "Date Night". Pretty funny, actually.
3. A wonderful dinner of coq-au-vin from the croque pot, with home-made, red-wine spaetzle and "German Salad" (like 3-bean, but it has peas and corn and green beans instead of multiple beans. It's pretty good if you use less oil and sugar than the traditional recipe)
4. Vegging out for the rest of the night!
