have you ever noticed that people in music (mainly rap) videos always have the most up-to-date and sophisticated gadgetry available? cars, cell phones, that sort of thing...always the newest shit on the market. the exception here is ipods. despite whatever gadgetry may or may not be shown off, you never see ipods in music videos. you might see the head phone cords or something (the telltale sign of ipodery), but you never see ipods.
but that's not the point. in 10 years these videos are going to be totally fucking hilarious (even more so than they already are). the prominence of technology (and ridiculous footwear) in today's music videos will be akin to haircuts and synthesizers and neon lighting in 80s videos. everyday i am more and more convinced that the 00s are the new 80s. i'm right on this one.
