Look at life as a decision making process, composted of smaller, more manageable choices. The outcomes of your decisions on a daily level, accumulate, and eventually shape your future by adding to a life-long direction. Consider the path of a doctor. As a pre-med, you are presented with decisions in your everyday life, usually in the form of a binary. For example, you may either go out and get wasted, or work towards your degree. Imagine many similar binaries, over evolutionary time. You will soon realize that the outcomes of each decision add up. Your life is a collection of many such conundrums, and the trick is to make the right choice many times to see the desired effect, i.e. becoming a certified physician.
