18 years young
Tommorow I will be 18. It will be the final realization of my wish to be able to participate in politics. It will also mean that if I ever get a licence, I can drive my friends around. I guess since it's my passage into adulthood (sorry Judaism, but I don't buy into all that Bar Mitzvah shit), I should look back on these 18 years and think about what I've accomplished, people I've known, changes that I've gone through, my prospects for growth now and in the future. But shit, I'm not really feelin' that right now. Looking back on the past year, seems I'm right where i was last this time last year. Thinking ahead to the next school year, prom just ahead, summer comming soon. Stuff I'm not sure how it's gonna sort out.
In 18 years, I haven't Killed anyone, I got into college, I traveled to Europe five times, went to Indiana around 15 times, have seen The Roots in concert twice, have eaten pho countless times, but only eaten at Chez Pinesse (can't spell) twice (or three times?). I've thought about hundreds of stories I should write, probably written about 6 of them. Thought of countless movies I want to make, probably will never make any movies. Been to only one "wild" high school party. Got high only once. Stayed somewhere by myself only once (Costa Rica, though Austin was there, but in a different house than I). Took a long distance bus ride by myself only once (from one part of cape cod to another). Have gone to schools that are increasingly close to my house. Have gone to schools white people are increasingly scared to go to (though, these days Claremont is totally more meanacing than Tech). I've been to a couple of concerts, danced only at Close-up dances and prom.
Look, I'll bring the nastolgia for real when the school year ends. on related matters, thanks to y'all for comming out to my birthday party. It went over well. Though, I felt a couple key people were missing, like Eduardo and Vu, where were those dudes? Reminded me how much I like to play soccer. We should play more socccer. But I think Asains vs. was kinda unfair, because everyone knows white people are waay better at soccer.
