Antici-Pater

How this fine, fine weather raises the spirits. Mo had another ante-natal hospital appointment, all is well and, though tired, her form is top. That means mine is pretty good too.
Speaking of hospital: the nursing staff hired me, and they do these things at a hell of a sprint. Nurses have to do everything fast. But then admin takes over and the wheels turn slow again. A personnel lady called me yesterday and bamboozled me with the news that i'd given them no references, despite my having filled the space on the form as required. This could have led to a foaming rant on the special Glaswegian brand of bureacracy but the sun's still out, the day is actually warm, so let's stay chipper. In seeking an alternate reference to my boss, who is my brother, I tracked down a nurse named Susannah I used to work with in London a while back now. She was and is a cool, cool lady, as could be seen by her warm and chatty greeting and immediate agreement to be a referee and assist as best she could, despite not hearing a cheep from me in seven years. The sluggish pace of the admin stuff may well also mean I get my full paternity leave and the exciting but daunting business of new baby will be done and routines established before I change jobs. I'm often nervous these days but for me that's almost interchangeable with excitement. I had a good yap with Miss C after work last night over nowt stronger than tea, unusually for us, and she is a good friend to yap to. I like friends, sunny days, quiet times in the office downloading new LCD tunes but looking forward to being busy on a ward again and being about to help Mo become a Ma...
