A Diarist's Kick

Jun 25, 2006 12:53

This week -- Thursday, to be exact -- was my two-year anniversary on Livejournal. Two years since my first post. According to their statistics, I have made 354 posts.

I took the time to look back at the old posts, and it is surprising (and unfortunate) that most of my posts have to do with the World Future Society and The Futurist. I went and put tags on many of my posts, but none for those futurism-related. I think if I did, I would find that a good third of my blog would be related to The Futurist, which is not a statistic I like to contemplate.

Okay, I admit it: I really get a kick out of reading my own blog from my friends' blogs. There's something about the different layouts and the different fonts, and the surprise to see my little baby picture come up in an unusual place, that brings a tingly frisson of pleasure. Because, who isn't the cutest baby ever?

I was never able to keep a journal before. When I first moved here from Baton Rouge, I started keeping a journal (part of which I plan to post closer to my six-year anniversary) to chronicle my adventures in graduate school. I didn't get very far. First of all, I was pretty busy, and second of all, well ... it just didn't work out.

So, thanks Livejournal. Thanks dahliamoon for introducing me to Livejournal and setting this whole thing up. What a kick it's been and continues to be. Away we go. Year Three!
