So I finally found the shoes I was looking for! Yep, after all this time, I finally discovered the NFLV (National Front for the Liberation of Vietnam) style sandals I've been pining for at Old Ho's Rubber Tire Sandals ( www.tired-feet.com/ ). And they're only USD $9.99 (+ Shipping and handling)!. Formerly, I had discovered an online shoe retailer going by the name of "Love Those Shoes," wherein a line of shoes called "Uncle Ho's" was being sold. Quite obviously, several of the shoes in the product line were inspired by the recycled tire footwear worn by the NFLV guerrillas, especially the "Cu Chi Classic" ( http://www.lovethoseshoes.com/secure/Ecommerce/preauthviewproduct.asp?ProdID=2045&RangeID=138 ). The "Cu Chi Classic" had two big problems with it: 1) it was partially constituted of suede (to which my vegan inclinations object), 2) it's extraordinarily expensive. Such was my desire, that I was willing to fork over big bucks to own a pair, but the fact that they are manufactured with suede still remained. So I e-mailed the proprietor, asking her if there would be any chance of a vegan version in the future. In her reply (which was pleasingly prompt), she claimed that she had raised that very issue with the manufacturers all the way in Vietnam, and they told her that such a shoe would be produced 'next season'--whenever that is. So, for some time now, I had thought that I was going to have to wait for that company www.lovethoseshoes.com to get those vegan "Cu Chi Classics" in stock in order to rock that hot Indochinese revolutionary style upon my feet. But then I discovered Old Ho's.

So, I e-mailed them a few hours ago with the specifics of my order (indicating my shoe size as a US men's 11, and my address as [XXXX] mainly), and now I eagerly await their response. I'll let all of you know how this transaction goes. Hopefully they'll reply promptly, and eveything will go according to plan.
