Since another friend posted on a dream, I will post about one I had last night, and actually remember--cuz it was a nightmare, and I woke in the middle of it

Oh yeah, I have had variants of this before too. But this one started to turn into an erotic dream--never should have left site to break camp without her.
My usual version is at the other end--I have set up in an indoor venue, and then left, only to come back and find I have been moved, all my stuff is missing, and the event starts in 15 minutes. Usually the missing is not because anyone offered to help, but because management decided to change my location.
My ongoing nightmare, still happening a couple of times a year, is I find out I never completed high school or first year of college, and have to go back.
Best worst dream I had was recurring for about 3 months. Almost every night same thing--I am dreaming something, and out of a rock,a tree, the wall, etc. come a group of hideous trolls, who grab me and force me to come with them. I am then in the room where the PhD orals happen, and the trolls start asking me questions--sometimes things about history, sometimes something else. I never know any of the answers, until I finally wake up
( ... )
By the way, on the second try, I knew I had passed when the US colonial/revolution expert ostentatiously unbuttoned his shirt, unplugged his hearing aid, removed it, rolled up the cord, leaned back and closed his eyes. Of course, the fact that the chair was the English dept expert in Puritan literature, and he and I had an interesting discussion on the finer points of Cotton Mather's non-religious work (his work on spiders is still considered excellent), helped. The Tudor/Stuart guy was still not really happy, but he was clearly outnumbered. Of such is success in academe.
btw, my other minor was Europe, 476-962--I was once very conversant with the real Goths, the impact of the stirrup and the Saxon wheeled plow, and other such critical stuff. I was a little weak on the dynastic issues of central Europe, but I was pretty good on the Huns, Mongols and Muslims as invaders. Yeah, TMI, but I'm in that kind of mood.
Oh, *that* sucks. I get the one where I go out to a faire and find that the person who hired me isn't at the show, never was, and I don't know what I'm doing there.
That sux big time, because it's so close to being true. My next door neighbor (boothie) told me the owner came by, paid her off (no severance pay) and told her he was removing the booth, and taking her pass. Faire management, when this came up, gave her a part time office job so she could stay. This happened on Monday, when the neighbor expected restocking, and was happy because she had made the best money yet over the weekend.
Most faire management does not act like this, one of the attractions of LaRF.
Got the rest of the story from the rumor mill (usually sort of reliable sources won't talk). In our contracts, we agree to accept the tokens sold by the faire (5 bucks each, minus a percentage). Owner apparently refused to take them, and was told would be kicked out if didn't--so he left before they could kick him out. Booth mgr was told after he had packed down; employee never did get told until she showed up Friday to find booth gone. He is clueless and in fact offered the mgr a job at FlaRF, and was apparently surprised when she declined.
Irony, I had 3 people so far ask me as nextdoor where the booth was, since they had come back to buy multiples for Xmas presents.
The tokens were an idea when the faire first started, since many vendors didn't take credit cards, and the faire had no ATMs. Many patrons buy one or two for souvenirs. I think by now the need is gone between having two ATMs and the fact people tend to have debit cards--but it *is* in the contract.
Wow. I mean, Queens Currency or its equivalent is a pain in the ass, but I hardly think it's worth bailing on a show. Unless of course said show is totally crap and it gets you out of losing money on it. Maybe dude was cutting his losses.
I've had that same dream, about being told i have to go back and finish this or that in high school or early college. For college, it's always some math class, and i can never find the right room. Sometimes, i can't even find the building. I've created entire new universities for this darned class i never took! LOL And considering that i don't even have a job any more, it doesn't make much sense for me to keep having these dreams, but i still do! Nice to know i'm not the only one. ((( hug ))) Good to see you, my friend. Love you.
My school dream is almost always trying to find a place to stay. Most common is the actual dorm room I was in freshman year, except my bed is hanging outside the window, or I am the only bed in the gym--cuz I registered late. Usually my missing course is unclear and nobody will tell me, because I came late and missed orientation.
Good to "see" you. Great new picture, too. Happy thanksgiving.
