Christmas came a bit early for me

Hey all 3 of you who actually read this. Hope you're doing fine and staying warm. Out here in Michigan, the snow built up on the roof to the point of needing someone to help get it off before it would cause damage. Not so much from the weight of the snow but the melt would freeze into ice & work it's way through the roof of the house to start flooding the top of it. Sort of the main problem you deal with when having a house built as this one is. Three houses literally built one on top of the other with tar roofs also being floors.

But enough about the house. Got a Christmas card from silveradept so thanks, buddy. I'm glad to have been of service for all those years of perverting your mind. It's not so fun being the only one. I also happened to have gotten a bit of an early Christmas present. Of course I don't celebrate Christmas or any of the other renditions of the winter solstice holiday but I'll take a present or a card without bitching about it. My youngest brother Nathan dropped in my hands a used 4GB IPod Mini with a CD for ITunes & a cord to upload/charge it. Our stepbrother got it new back in 2005 & used it for 11 months until he damaged the screen. Of course he figured it was ruined and proceeded to throw the $200 device (I'm guessing on the price back in '05) in the trash. Nathan found it and, after learning it was just the screen that was busted, went on EBay to get a new screen. Payed $20 bucks for part, instructions, and S&H he proceeded to repair it and make it work just fine. He used it for a while but very rarely since he didn't really have a lot of MP3's to use it for & no need to jump onto ITunes. So imagine my surprise when he just drops this into my hands and says, 'Merry Christmas. Don't say I didn't do anything for you." Of course the first thing that popped into my head was "Oh crap...if I have to use ITunes for Windows to even use this, I probably won't use the IPod." I had heard about how the program just loves to take things over on computers so I was concerned. Well...I could use it and maybe I could keep ITunes on a short leash. Onward with the Install! Installed ITunes & tried to figure out how to work the damn thing. It just wasn't intuitive for me and was almost like trying to read one of my raw Hentai Doujins still in the original Japanese. Not a pretty picture...except for the pretty pictures, but I digress.

I figured out how to get the songs of Nate's IPod & work the Library to see my music drive but couldn't figure out how to get songs onto the IPod. Nathan comes to the computer and wracks his brain to remember how he did it so long ago. Then he remembers to just select the songs in the Library and proceed to Drag & Drop. I go, "That's it? How did you figure that out?" He quiped, "It was thanks to that video you have. The one about the guy bitching on and on with his hatred of Macintosh & Apple along with his prodigious destruction of a PowerMac. He mentioned Drag & Drop so I figured why not try it? Lo and behold, it worked."

I was dumbstruck. Not only was it so simple that I couldn't figure it out, but that Nate figured it out thanks to one of my comedy videos I've had since college. Thankful for the information, I thanked him again for the bequeathment of the IPod and now I'm enjoying it. I've always wanted an MP3 player and figured it would easier for me to get a Sandisk or Creative as opposed to an Apple product but I've now offically been drafted into the lower ranks of Apple users. Just don't expect me to go anywhere near the IPhone...unless you want to watch me blow 600 bucks of my hard-acquired monies on something that I'll chuck out the truck window on the highway to the merryment & horror of all.

Well, that's it for me. Hope you all enjoy yourselves and have a safe Holiday.
