Death of Superman
soooo.... i suppose it has been awhile since i've done one of these.
things are going well at the studio. last week we sent off the papers to incorporate. the thought of owning my own corporation makes me feel slightly queasy, but probably only because i consider *corporation* to be a naughty word. we'll soon be getting stock certificates (4 of them, to be exact) and all that jazz. we even had to give ourselves titles. i wasn't there when they signed the papers, so i got the (super-boring-in-my-opinion) title of "Secretary," while one of my heterosexual life/business partners, Justin, is ALSO Secretary.... "Secretary of FUN."
i'm not joking.
we've been recording Brad Postlethwaite's new album. its still in the early stages of rough mixes/tracking, but i think its some of the best stuff we've done yet. its getting to the point that these songs mean more to me than anything i've ever personally written. they're easy to relate to and pretty catchy. which gives them at least a few points on the "scale o' good"... right? i find myself singing them while i wait tables. i've gotten a few weird looks, but i get good ideas running the songs through my head on repeat all the time. i think its exactly what i HAVE to do to keep improving. i've been climbing that mountain of dreams slowly but surely *cough* (why is it that in our highest moments of inspiration, the overwhelming majority of creation comes out pure cheese? of course, i guess this could explain the whole god/current state of the earth thing).
other than brad's album, which is the most recent work we've done, we recorded an EP for the Noise Choir, some songs for Blair Combest, AND we're working on a beat for the dishwasher at my work. *HA* but seriously, the kid free-styled on command to a Portishead album at a party and i was impressed...
well, i'd better go. i need to wash my single pair of pants and pack my bags...
that's right...
i'm going to disney world.
(p.s. anyone want to give me a ride to the airport tomorrow around 12:30pmish?)
