something a person has to carry with them. That's what dead weight is. something heavy, unrelentingly harder and harder to manage. A person can walk miles with dead weight.
but dead weight is heavy. sometimes, a person will let it go, drop it, forget about it. they lighten their load, take the pressure and pain off their back.
but sometimes, a person will carry that weight around for as long as it takes. Soldiers in the field will carry the body of a comrade for miles to save them. A parent who loses a child will carry the burden of pain around forever, like a weight upon their soul.
dead weight is not like normal weight. Somehow, it is heavier. The burden to carry it harder. It must take great strength of character for a person to carry dead weight upon their shoulders, for any length of time. The burden of dead weight is a choice of that person.
If there was no love involved, no honor, that weight would be left upon the ground to rot.
I am grateful for those who carry that weight. You are truly the heroes of the world.
