Gene wandered down to the garden. Frankly, he had no idea what Garrus was up to, or if it would work, but he was bored. The lioness next to him stretched and yawned as they made their way through the halls. "Is this the guy who has a stick up his ass?"
"Yep. But he's a good cop. So be polite."
She gave an amused growl. "You're telling me to be polite to a cop?"
He shrugged. "Well, polite for us. He does a job I don't want to do, so why make it harder?" And there was the guy in question now. "Yo."
Samus made her way down to the garden, no coffee in hand (honestly, she had been cutting down since the mirror incident, and she had no idea why), and Marduk, her Metroid, floating cheerfully over her left shoulder. She'd considered wearing her suit, so as to be better to brace the bottom of the pile of people, but ultimately decided against it. If Vakarian wanted her at the bottom, she'd offer to go back and get it. If he had other plans for her based on her size and agility, she'd take it from there.
"You could have worn your suit and taken it off if you didn't need it," Marduk suggested, apparently in response to her thought. Samus let the fact that he was apparently reading her mind now go.
"I think people have had enough of me running around in that thing after the mirrors," she explained.
"You're itching to put it back on," Marduk insisted. "I can tell. You feel all...weird without it."
"Shh, just listen to what Vakarian says and we'll go from there," she told the Metroid.
Lyle loped across the grounds of the common area, making a beeline for the garden, Sheridan close by his heels. As he stuck his hands in his pockets, the coyote decided to voice her concerns about the project.
"So... we're stacking people to further investigate things."
"That's what it looked like from certain threads on the forum," Lyle, ever the thread-lurker, responded as he looked down at his canine companion.
"Just how far are we trying to get? I don't see how people with ground bound partners like, say, me will go very high. What if these tall people he's asking for don't have much in the way of aerial partners? Or even lightweight ones?"
The pilot just shrugged, "There's probably some kind of strategy at work, but asking for it to be explained over the networks didn't seem wise. We'll find out soon enough, anyway."
And so they would, since the pair had reached the garden at just that moment. Lyle waved to the others before approaching the small group.
Four of them. More than he'd really expected to show up. All of them with their animals... and all of them walking. Damn. None of them had any flight ability, except the--what the hell was that? Needless to say, he stared at Aran's floating... thing... for longer than he probably should have. Well, it would have to do.
He stepped forward, the dog keeping pace with his heel. She looked over the other animals and their counterparts with her head cocked, studying them as he did. "You have no way of knowing this will work," she said, her eerily familiar voice an undertone. "You're sure you can do this?"
"Not me," he told her, just as quietly. "We can." And then, once they'd gathered, he added, louder, "There's four of us... if Aran is on top, with her floating..." Taloned hands grasped for a word that wouldn't come. "Creature... Maybe we can actually touch the dome. Get an idea of what it's made of, and figure out a better plan of attack from there."
