I Went To Glasgow Today

I went into Glasgow to spend the rest of my Christmas money.

When I arrived at the train station and sat on one of the cold metal benches I thought to myself about how lots of people my age who live near me haven't ever went into Glasgow, or even to Motherwell. (Motherwell is really close to where I live, and Glasgow is only a 20 minute journey on a train.) It probably sounds a little judgmental, but I was always so surprised by how people in my year at school would go Christmas shopping in the local Morrisons- or the Woolworths until it closed down- instead of taking a 20 minute journey into Glasgow.

It is a pretty poor area where they don't even bother to put up poster for the more than one party during elections- you vote Labour or you don't bother, because you'll be wasting your time.

I was kinda friendly with a boy called John who lived with his dad, mum, older brother and older sister, and when I was around 10 and he was around 8 or 9, I remember on a Friday night he would always be outside- regardless of the weather- with a half bottle of Buckfast. Apparently his parents weren't all that keen on having their kids around on a Friday night, so all three of them would be sent out with a bottle of cheap wine.

It's a pretty depressing place to live.

Something about the desolate train station, gloomy weather and coroded bridge over the railway tracks reminded me of that.

Anyway, I went to Glasgow, which I normally go to- apart from for uni- around once or twice a week.
And got a ton of cool Doctor Who stuff- including the Brilliant Book, which is brilliant :D-, some DVDs and Horrible History Top Trump cards.

Then I went back to my town. It was dark by then and there were lots of little groups of people hanging out either shouting abuse at each other, looking cold, or drinking. Or all three.

*sighs* It's a bit grim at times, but at least I've got some good stories from living where I do... Which I will no doubt share at some point. :p

PS- The only thing I couldn't find in Glasgow, which I had planned to get, was the Derren Brown Specials on DVD.
But I will order them on Amazon, because I must watch them again. I must!

< Derren hypnotising a bird so it won't poo on his shoulder. I think. lol.

PSS- I want my cauliflower cheese to be ready now!

If there was one food I could eat every day and never be sick of, it would be this sexy thing. Or brocolli cheese. Nom, nom, nom...
