Some learn-ication time
I'm reading up on the Hidatsa natives from back home so I can have a better understanding of my NPC Monte.
While reading about this culture I have realized I am so out of touch with my heritage. Everything I have read is so new and FASCINATING. The creation stories, the myths, the folklore, HOW THEY LIVED. My mouth forever agape. I stare at the language and I have no idea how to pronounce any of it. :I I hear the elders back home speaking some words and it's so....alien to me.
My how far I've fallen.
I also learned there's only 100-150 people who can still speak Hidatsa fluently, and the entire language will be gone by 2040 if this rate keeps up. That's kinda scary.
I now need to make a trip to the bookstore and grab some recommended books to edumacate myself.
WORST NATIVE EVER. :B
Fun Fact: Monte is named after my grandpa who I lost 5 years ago and he looks like my uncle who I also lost 5 years ago. And he's made of pure awesome. No you can't have him. And his favorite color is green. Forest Green. Or Moss Green.
