Tell me again why I agreed to teach preschoolers?

I just wanted to quit today, right in the middle of teaching my class, just walk out. For those that don't know, I teach a drama class, PRESCHOOL (3-5 year olds!!!). I don't care for preschoolers period, but lately the class had really been coming around and I was learning a lot from the experience. Apparently having a week off for Thanksgiving break reverses learning or something.

My class was cracked out today. Mostly it was the boys, but some of the girls were being difficult too. To start the class out I walked into the room we rent and there is a massive pinata hanging in the middle of the room and a Christmas tree with present under it plus all the usual distractions of this space. I had to hear questions and speculations about the pinata and tree for at least the first 3rd of my class. As much as I tried to get started and move past it, 3-5 year olds can not ignore those two things in a room.

On top of that everyone was talkative today, and one boy was violent. I have never had problem with this particular child but today he was hitting people, throwing things, and when he played the caterpillar he was the giant, killer caterpillar that hit people with his antenna. Then one of my girls told me she would not do things severals times (ie she chose to be the caterpillar, but when it was time for her part I got 'no! I won't do it.' me: 'ok, then let someone else do it.' her: 'no.' Mean while I see her mom watching the class in the doorway. At least her mom was aware and spoke with me about the child's issues with taking direction after... the boys parents, never saw them.

Anyhow, I will stop ranting. Thanks for listening if you actually read this.

Love you all!
