something wonky this way comes

3:54 PM 2/4/09 · Generally at the start of any new season (chapter, whatever) of Heroes I'll do my review of that episode to every single Heroes community I'm a member of and a few affiliated multi·themed geek ones as well. For every other episode I just post to 3 Heroes comms and the aforementioned geeky ones...

...although more and more, given how the series has been turning, I've been posting content to my X·Men one as well.

In the rare instance, if the demonic little fluffball pops up, I post to my Mr. Muggles comm too.

Just wanted to do this one followup to this week's post for 2 reasons.

1) I goofed in the previous post. Claire killed Sylar with a shard of glass at the end of Heroes: Villains and not a shotgun. Not that this explains why he's alive anymore than had it been a couple shotgun blasts...I'm just saying.

2) Responses I got to the previous post pointed to Peter not running on the same operating system, as it were. Not to go over this again too much but his power is to be able to copy the powers of any other emo·sapiens that've entered into a certain, still unspecified, radius of him. He can store multiple powers and use them whenever he wants to call one up. The major drawback of this ability is he doesn't necessarily know what powers he has in total. So, unless in circumstances that bring them up, he could have a lot untapped potential he never will know about.

However, originally he didn't know that he could do this. Peter thought he could only use the powers of those people who had them at the time they were nearby. It wasn't until a certain Invisible Man (I really miss Claude Raines) tutored him that he managed to work out he still had the powers of other when they weren't around.

The new theory, and I don't totally subscribe to this as yet, is that Peter's become more like the X·Men character (who went through a stage where she could access all the powers she'd ever absorbed) Rogue. That now he only gets the powers of whoever he touches and only one power at a time. If he should make contact with someone else then he loses the power he previously had and defaults to the new ability.

This both explains and confuses what happened at the end of this past episode.

They're all drugged up, no doubt the same concoction that Primatech used to neutralize the emo·sapiens powers, until Claire frees them. Peter makes contact with Mohinder who's tied up next to him and uses his enhances physical abilities to break free. He then brushes Tracy or whatever the Ice Lady's name is and accidentally freezes a hole into the side of the plane which results in it eventually crashing. So far this is in keeping with how his power generally works minus the mild lightshow from the power transfers.

It was put forth he lost Mohinder's ability when he touched Tracy because one of the guards started beating the crap out of Peter. That's kinda iffy. Enhanced ability doesn't render him invulnerable or anything so just because you're stronger doesn't mean you can't get a beat down. Although, something I missed was that Peter took a swing at one of the guards and it didn't do much of anything which may lend credence to his having lost Mohinder's ability.

The other thing was that it was suggested he might only have one power at a time because when the hole was ripped in the plane he should've just been able to fly out. That's not wholly true. He didn't try to fly out...he did what anyone would do in those circumstances: GRAB SOMETHING!

Peter might've been able to fly if he went out the hole. He might also still have more than one power at a time still but that neutralizing drug in his system may've left him a tad shakey on his feet, so to speak.

I suppose next week's episode will clear some of this up.

3) Primatech & Pinehearst. What's with the repeated P's? Does anyone know the name assigned to this hit squad that's going around and bagging the emo·sapiens now?

heroes, rogue
