Bloody Pengu: 822.5
Shortly after I worked out the difficulties of the situation, I'd been pouring over my notes but those only took me so far. I needed to do a bit more...meatier work to actualize the problem.
Yet another time that living on a dimensional nexus has panned out for me so well.
Problem: The reality I spend about ½ my time in has been faced with a disasterous turn of events. A mutant population of teeming tens of thousands has been reduced to a staggering shortfall of less than 200. This was done as a result to a mentally unstable mutant with the power to restructure reality at will in an attempt for her to have a normal life. Never have three words had such a devestating effect...
..."no more mutants".
Observation: Oddly it seems that fundamentally the mutants effected were not ones she had actually encountered. I may have to recheck my stats but I believe each of those that retained their abilities are ones that she had either encountered or known about, no doubt through a general purusal of the Avengers rather extensive database. Why only mutants she did not know were afflicted by her lapse of judgement (for what else are we to call it?) I cannot say. Still...it is something that bears further exploral.
Subjects #1, #2, & #3: To the end of determining the hows and whys of the reversal I have procured three subjects; deceased. They all met their ends rather suddenly under circumstances that...are not terribly important to mention. They are all the same person from variant realities: a mutant, a depowered mutant, and a man who might've been a mutant had he been in a reality condusive to such an eventuality.
There was a rather odd, and ironically mutated, sentinel a number of years back that met its end in battle with Prelate Summers. Before it was pulped it made the realization that previous sentinel scans were not as in depth as they should be. It discovered that all flatscans have the potential to be mutants...just most of them never achieve it. While I do not fully accept this, the poor thing was suffering a rather bizarre hybridization issue with a highly prejudiced flatscan after all, it bears further scrutiny before I make any rash decisions.
The mutant is from a reality that the Scarlet Witch never uttered those fateful words. The flatscan is also not from her reality. Of course, to be effective, I purloined the 3rd who is one of the mutants that lost his powers shortly after that temporary chronal reality shift that is most often referred to as the House of M.
Now, if you'll excuse me...I have to go clean my bone saw and make preparations.
